4 year old handcuffed for not taking a nap

A 4 year old wasn't feeling sleepy, so the teacher took him to another room where a police officer handcuffed him and threatened him.

Yes, treating children like criminals is a trend I'm hating. This example is over-the-top and I hope the school has to pay out enough money over it to keep them from doing it again.

I do wonder if their school safety officer is actually a sworn officer. Some places thy are not officers. Either way though.... disbelief.gif

Especially when you consider that the child committed no crime. Handcuffing and threatening jail time should only occur when a crime has been committed. Otherwise it is little different from something like a stranger hitting your kid in the store because he was too loud.

Yea. I yell at parents who tell htier kids I'm there to take them to jail or something along those lines when that is not why I was called.

example: "Johnny this officer is going to take you to jail if you don't listen to your mommy and clean your room."

It's not bad enough that parents are using Santa that way, but cops too? Sheesh. Yell at those parents a little for me, too, Mirk.

OK so let me get this strait. Handcuff my kid if they won't take a nap but feel free to take them off campus without my knowlege to undergo a surgical proceedure.

Handcuff them for not taking a nap but don't drug test the athletes because that violates their privacy.

The crazy train has officially left the station!!!

I've found that it's a sad fact that few adults are qualified to handle children outside their own...

Besides, we all know that the best way to contain a child is not handcuffs, it's duct tape. :)

And you can get it in so many attractive colors these days. I remember the old days when all we had was silver duct tape. There was no possible way to color coordinate it to your children's clothing back then. Thank goodness for progress.

Why stop with coordinating the duct tape to the clothes...

Yet another instance that reinforces my belief that public school is a training ground for living in a totalitarian society.

Parents must be super vigilant if their kids are in Public School (and most of mine are - one's in Catholic school) to counter just what pt said. Indoctrinate the young - it's the way to change.

Granted, I'm not a fan of public schools, but parents need to be supervigilant in any aspect of their kid's lives. Does that nice shiny toy from China have lead paint? Does their favorite cartoon teach bad principles?
