*sigh* Dunno. I'll have to see how the final scene plays out with all the candidates and VP choice, but I'll probably go the "hold my nose" route.

I want to see McCain clearly spell out and make a pledge to the conservatives on things he has caved on in the past. Even then, I'll probably be looking at my 3rd party options for the first time ever.

I will see what happens up until the general elections. At that point I will probably unenthusiastically vote Republican.

Mostly I think I am goint to take a break from national politics, the more I think about it, the more depressed I get.

Oh well, I have other things to do.

I had just made my mind up to vote for Romney yesterday. So. . . I dunno. I think I'll give up politics for Lent.

The old conservative Republican Party died today.

That's right. It's dead.

There were only two conservatives left. Romney and Paul.

Romney had his problems, but so did Paul.

I would NEVER trust Ron Paul to be the Commander in Chief. I don't believe he has a clue when it comes to keeping our country safe, but I agree with him on almost every other issue.

Romney should never have lowered himself to the liberal level that he did in Mass. to get himself elected. He didn't believe the things he said then and anyone who knows him, knows that. I suppose he said them hoping that it would eventually help him be elected as President of the United States. He said things there that lost him the nomination in the long run.

John "Lettuce" McCainiac would SERIOUSLY be worse for this country than anything the Dems could throw at us. He has absolutely no chance of winning anyway. When you count the votes that were cast on Super Tuesday, those who voted in the Democratic Primaries outnumbered the Republicans almost 2 to 1. Romney could see the writing on the wall and decided to get out before he spent another 17 million of his own funds.

It simply depresses me. I've gone out and taken down and thrown away my Mitt signs. My wife is saving some of her stuff for four years from now. I hope we even have a country left four years from now. I have always said that by 2010 we'd be in a major world war so I guess now we just wait and see.

In November, I will vote Republican for every office except President of the United States. I will most likely vote for the Constitution Party candidate.

So for now, I will just have to mourn the death of the Grand Old Party and pray for a better and a brighter day when Our Savior will come to rule and reign.

I've been wrong often enough in predicting who will win on any side. But I'm going to make another prediction anyway. McCain will not get elected. Either Hillary or Obama will. Democrats are excited about their currently available candidates. There have already been many people saying that they simply will not vote if McCain is nominee. So you have the republicans unexcited about their candidate, and you have the democrats truly excited about their candidates. 14 million Democrats showed up to vote on Super Tuesday compared with 8 million Republicans.
McCain is poison to many conservatives. The way people are acting, they'd rather watch Brokeback Mountain than vote for McCain.

If any of you heard bits and pieces of talk radio today, the general message was, "Well, we didn't like McCain, but we must all now get behind him. Any of you who don't get behind him are going to damage the country, because the alternatives are much worse." That was inbetween the glowing eulogy of Mitt Romney and wondering why he didn't give today's speech last week.

Personally, I am not going to vote for McCain. My absentee ballot came this evening. I am glad it arrived when it did, because otherwise my vote would have gone to Mitt. It'll now be cast for Ron Paul.

Today's speech was the Mitt his supporters had come to know and support, but which had been suppressed either through himself or through the Media painting him a different picture.

Mitt is young and may be able to win the nomination in four years. In the intervening time he will have to do something amazing, so he doesn't become a John Edwards.

Mitt did the honorable thing and dropped out to hep unite his party. There will obviously be hurt feelings for a few days. A McCain/Romney ticket could be powerful enough to unite the party. Romney's financial prowess would drastically improve McCain's lack of prowess. VP candidates are not in the race for themselves, but rather are advocates for the ticket headliner. For the most part, Romney wouldn't have to advocate too many positions he differs with. Because of the picture the media has painted on Romney, those small 'flip-flops' wouldn't be too bad. On immigration, I'm sure they could both support a 'secure the borders first' approach, then deal with 'amnesty' later. Romney is also strong on health care. He could give speeches like the one he gave yesterday at the Conservative PAC

That ticket could beat Clinton. Plus, since McCain is old, so Mitt has a good chance of inheriting the presidency. At that point his national/world credentials will be increased and could run on his own with much wider Republican support.

This will keep the likes of Guilanni and Huckabee from ever getting the presidency.

This is a good guess, but it assumes something I'm not really sure is true. It assumes that conservatives get republicans elected, and liberals get democrats elected.

Something for consideration: Much of America doesn't follow politics, spend much time thinking about it, know the issues, or have firm ideas either way.  These are the people that get presidents elected, and those of us who care have an impact depending on how well we can reach them, and how many.

In short, a rule of presidential politics is "campaign to the center, then govern to the left or right".

I'm not sure if I have a point here or not, but there is a lot of america who will vote for McCain because he's a good centrist.

I'd vote for a McCain/Romney ticket. I don't think I could get enthused about much else. Been pretty bummed out about the whole deal, but I understand that in order to preserve the party it's the right thing to do.

In the same right, I think arbi's right about Clinton/Obama getting elected. I perceive Dems as much more excited about their candidates, but heck, that might just be another media ecstasy trip. I don't know alot of folks personally that care either way about them... and I live in Washington.

There's not much party to conserve anymore, as I see it.

I'm voting for Obama. Sometimes you have to crash before you can get better.

I remember when Clinton won in 1992 and I was convinced the country was toast.  We're still here.  Don't be so pessimistic.....the U.S. is still the greatest place of opportunity and freedom.  Refuse to give into doom and gloom.

The Second Coming already started with the First Vision and the Kirtland Temple visitation.  As President Uchtdorf said in our last Conference, "have we not great reason to rejoice?".

The better and brighter day is here,  so enjoy it!!!!

I just filled out my primary ballot for Mitt Romney. Maybe he'll win Washington state, wouldn't that be a hoot?

Really, we should all vote for those we feel would make the best president of the available choices. At least I believe that is how we should vote in the primaries. When it comes down to the General Election, however, I try to vote for the one who will do the least harm.
