...rumors soon surfaced that the former governor was set to meet with his senior staff to discuss the future of the campaign. I don't see how this leads to rumors he may drop out. Super Tuesday is a major milestone - only a fool wouldn't meet with senior staff afterwords to take stock of new realities and see what to change. Certainly, a major change like "drop out of the race" is on the table, but just holding a meeting doesn't rise to the level of "rumor he may drop out" yet.

(CNN) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will suspend his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, GOP sources tell CNN.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is expected to suspend his campaign Thursday, sources say.
A candidate may "suspend" his or her campaign rather than dropping out, and technically remain a candidate. In this case, he or she is entitled to keep any statewide pledged delegates as well as their district-level delegates.
Candidates who officially drop out must forfeit statewide delegates.

Hey, if Mitt lends his endorsement to Ron Paul, then his delegates might vote for Ron Paul. Then, if Ron Paul wins enough of the remaining primaries because he is the only conservative candidate left, then we could get Ron Paul as our candidate! Ok, I know that it's just a dream. But it's theoretically possible.

I'll take Paul over Huckabee or McCain. I think we might convert, as DH feels the same. We were never hot for Romney, but he was ahead of Paul in our minds.

I at least Romney's religion would have been an important factor and I had thus voted for him in the primary.
Now, I think we are all screwed, McCain or Obama, doesn't matter, BOHICA. I honestly don't think McCain will be all that great, unfortunately, there is now no other option.

Well I don't know what bohica means, but there are seven reasons to vote McCain over Obama.
1. The War 2-7. Six Supreme Court Justices, each 62 years or older.
Yes, we can be very mad that this list has only seven items on it instead of hundreds. But these are seven BIG reasons, worthy of consideration, IMO.

But voting for McCain will give him the crazy impression that we support him. If Romney is really out, I am voting for Ron Paul, despite disagreeing with a few things. He won't win, but it'll send a message, which message is getting louder every year.
But, relating to reality, I would rather have a Republican Senate and Congress with a Democratic president than a McCain presidency with either Republican or Democratic Legislatures. Last time my favored situation happened, the Republican Revolution in 1994, we entered a prosperous time.
I'm guessing that the latter letters in BOHICA stand for "here it comes again". The first two letters, "BO", probably mean something that I'm not going to spell out on a family board.

Thanks, Arbi. I sat and thought until my dirty mind figured the rest out.

I highly doubt Romney will endorse Paul. His stated reason for suspending his campaign is to avoid splitting the party and to allow McCain to begin a national campaign.

Unfortunately, when such votes of principle hit the road, they end up being votes for the other main party. Every idealistic Ron Paul vote is a vote for HillarObama. That goes for Cthulu votes too.
And if sucessful, it means defeat in the war and a decade setback for the Supreme Court.

I wouldn't mind that either, especially since Republicans owning the presidency and both houses did absolutely diddly-squat to fix all the broken crap. But we got to have that Gingritch-esque movement again to make it work.
Republicans will be able to block any radical supreme court justices through filabuster. Ugh. Maybe. But all it means is the republicans continue on the dem's dirty tricks they've excelled at, and I've yelled about in the past. McCain is a better choice than having to resort to such tactics.
Yes, he'll hand over the US to Mexico, but Obhillary will do it faster.
Yes, he'll try to screw up the taxes and the economy, but Hillbama will do it quicker and better.
Yes, we're rewarding him for his lousy finance reform. What, you wanna reward BarInton for his inexperience or her zero track record?
Come on folks - we gotta spend some time demanding McCain do some changing and extract some promises to staff positions with people we want. But then, we gotta rally behind him and not let Hillama take over for 8 years.

That goes for Cthulu votes too.
Cthulu doesn't need your vote. Cthulu will rise again and conquer all...
