I attended the Republican Caucus

I attended the Republican Caucus in my precinct as an observer. Three people spoke up for Ron Paul. Two spoke up for Huckabee. But when it came time to vote Romney got 22 votes, Huckabee 7, Ron Paul 6, and McCain only 2.
My home teacher voted for Ron Paul. I was suprised and pleased. There were a lot of people from my ward at the caucus, which was several precincts together.
Ron Paul had an event in Colorado on Friday. In a ballroom designed to hold 5000 people, there were 5000, with people standing in the halls trying to hear.

I really do hope that Romney wins Colorado. You give me a little hope.

You know, though, that today was just a straw poll, a non-binding vote. Delegates get determined later. At least, that's how it works in Colorado. So it is very possible that the delegates will be different than what the caucus result would lead you to believe.
Romney might still be in it. He might still win California (unless there's new information that I just missed).

My SIL went to her thing in Colorado to pull for Ron Paul. I wonder if you were in the same place?

Not unless she lives in the Johntown/Milliken area.
BTW, Mahonri, if it's any consolation to you, the NY Post has Romney leading so far in Colorado. Of course, that could be true or it might not. But we'll see.

So if McCain wins the nomination, what are you as Romney supporters planning?  I think you should consider trying to get him to run as an independent.  That would make for a really interesting election.  A true conservative could never vote McCain under any circumstances.

That is simply not true, Mirkwood. According the American Conservative Union, McCain has a lifetime 83 rating, while Clinton is 12 and Obama 8. Here's the link: http://www.conservative.org/archive2/2008potus.asp
Voting for McCain to keep either of those two extreme liberals from becoming President is something a true conservative should do.

We will have to agree to disagree on that point.

I saw that but then saw a different rating on Fox News where they took out his Senate Service in the 80s and 90s and only focused on the last 8 years or so.  The rating was significantly different then.

Right you are, Duke. I just checked out the prior years (since 2000) myself and McCain is in the mid 60's to low 70s---still much more conservative than Clinton or Obama, but a little troublesome.

I don't know about running mates but I believe they all endorsed McCain.

You are a Duke of Mirth! I don't know about Feingold. Lieberman endorsed McCain--but then Leiberman's main concern is the War on Terror in which he's in full agreement with McCain that we need to keep fighting the war until we win. Kennedy supports Obama.

And in the most recent year noted at American Conservative Union, 2005, McCain had an 80 rating. Still, even if he's more like a 70-75 rating now, that's still far better than a 12 or an 8. Agree or not?

These are bills that McCain co-sponsored with Democrats

McCain Feingold:  Campaign finance reform Bill

McCain Lieberman: Climate Stewardship Bill

McCain Kennedy: Immigration Reform Bill
