I'm a bit surprised that noone has talked about the State of the Union address. Did anyone watch it? I didn't, but I've heard sections of it quoted. What I heard sounds like a typical political speech; chew out your political enemies, and promise the world to voters.

More power to ya', DaKnife. I'm genuinely glad to hear that someone enjoys those.
For myself, I can't stand to watch State of the Union addresses (lame duck president or not). Nothing of substance ever happens in them, and the applause stretches the event out from "tedious" to "insufferable".
The whole thing is based on the media's need for circuses and the politicians need for a stage, IMO.
Yeah, I watched more of it than I should've. What was interesting was seeing Cheney and Pelosi seated next to each other right behind the President, and their responses. Another interesting thing was that Bush pledged to cut 18 billion in unneeded expenses, and then a short time later, pledged to add at least 30 billion more. What a joke. Will these people ever learn that the roll of the Federal government isn't to be everything to everyone--especially those who live in other countries? Give me a break.
