Actually I overheard the dad saying his daughter was still inside and I told the fire Captain. I'm in the video again. Most of the time with my back turned while the fire guys worked her. I've got the buzz cut.
Ooh, you'll have the black helicopters chasing after you now!
BTW, Mirk, I'd become bitter about humanity doing a job like yours. I'm glad that you can maintain a sense of humor.
I wish we had more deputies like you in our Sheriff's department. Last year we had a jealous wife killing her husband's lover. The wife, the husband, the lover, and her husband, all worked for either the Police Department or the Sheriff's department. Then, just in the last few days, a deputy got arrested for sexual assault on a minor.

Yeah it's sad. Being an officer in the public's trust, policing people, the rise that comes from exerting power and authority over others can lead to an assortment of abuses and perversions... like that cop from the village people...

If he did, it would be more like Police Academy the film and not any that exist in real life.

Hey mirk! I saw that story on the noon news today, and they were reporting that the firemen were totally surprised to find the girl. Maybe the news was a bit off? Or else the fire chief didn't get the word to his firemen before they found her.
Either way, good work. I'm glad everyone survived the fire.
Yep. They were still gearing up when I heard the dad and then I told the Fire Captain. Either way, the girl was found and that is what was important. Well, that and the chimp butt got on tv again!!!
BTW, Mirk, my brother recently retired from police work. It was always a little unnerving for me to see him in full gear - vest, weapons, etc - when he went to work.
I never could imagine how his family dealt with it. Watching him go to work knowing he may not come back. Unlisted numbers and PO box so he couldn't be found by "unsavory characters," always listening for "breaking news" or sirens. He would pick me up sometimes for lunch and the radio was never silent. A constant stream of suspicious behavior and crimes.
We watched the news so much closer then, always seeing the back of his crew cut head at the scene of a violent crime. The respect I have for you and what you do cannot be expressed with words.
