Please, please tell me that their poor little children were not there to see it.

Yet again, another sad reason to carry concealed at church.

Val you know I'm supportive of your viewpoint, but it would not have solved this one. It happened in the parking lot and was over before anyone could have stopped it.

Carrying ain't legal in Utah LDS churches, but I think it is in most other states with conceal carry laws.

 I thought the same thing.

This was a deliberate and planned action with a single target, not the active shooter scenario where multiple victims is the intent, where an armed church attendee could take steps to stop the act.

How very tragic and sad. Not only is it devastating for the woman's family, but that would be devastating and traumatic for the ward family.

We had one of those in CO last month.  Not LDS, though.  But the bad guy did not stop shooting innocent people, until pinned down and hit a few times by the mega-church's armed security.

There was a time when this was a concern for me, ex husband showing up with a gun. I felt like I was in a movie, looking around corners before you turn them. Hyper-aware of every person who walks through the door at work.

What makes me mad is that this husband, who was already the center of restraining orders, knew his wife would go to church. He had probably threatened her, she was already aware of a possibility of violence (or continued violence). Yet, he knew she would be at church, that she would be faithful in that. And he used that to his advantage.

That is actually my point.  The congregation as a whole was the target in CO.  In the Lehi shooting, the wife was the target, not the congregation.

I know what you mean, Ros. Luckily, I don't have to deal with that anymore. I hope. Every time the cops hauled him off he had a loaded gun in the car. Too bad it just wasn't in the chamber.

Yeah, I think I'd request the sacrament be brought to my house... of course, looking back in hindsight, etc.

Hopefully there's some grandparents or someone that can step in for those children.

I wonder if this guy was "active."

A friend of mine was in this family's ward. She said the woman was outgoing, friendly and very service-oriented. She said her husband was "hard to get to know." And she remembers thinking to herself once when they'd "tried" talking to him... "Man, he sure is full of himself."
