Bottom of the 6th or Top of the 7th Seal?

We had a little "discussion" about this and a few other points in Sunday School.  What do you think?

I don't think it will happen until 2010. If I am putting the scriptures together correctly, there is a great sign in heaven that all the people shall see together (D&C 88:93) that happens right before the 7th seal is opened, then right after the seal is openedthere is the 1/2 hour silence.

Perhaps the great sign from heaven is a testimony that the 7th seal has already opened?

I don't think it's opened yet and I think trying to put a time on it like "within 5 years" is sort of like predicting the Second Coming. If you don't predict, you'll never make yourself out to look like an idiot.

What do you suppose the 1/2 hour of silence means?

The Half Hour is the time between the opening of the 7th seal and the beginning of the 7 angels sounding their trumpets, announcing various destructions upon the earth during the 7th seal. When the 7th angel sounds it is said, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ and he shall reign for ever and ever. In Revelation 10 it describes the 7th angel as saying, there shall be time no longer, which means, Time is up. Destruction pours out on the earth, Babylon falls, then chapter 19 has the marriage feast of the Lord, where Christ rides on a white horse, eyes as a flame of fire, clothed in the red vesture, with the armies of heaven following him, also on white horses and wearing white. This is the final destruction of all the telestial. The beast and the false prothet are cast into hell, but the devil is only bound and cast into a bottomless pit, from where is is let loose at the end of the millenium, and then he will be cast into hell.

So, I am not sure how long the half hour is. Neither can I venture how long it will take for each of the angels to sound their trumpets. But, when the 7th angel sounds his trumpet, time is up.

There are many time references in Revelation, but most of them can be added up to 3.5 years, which is the length of time that the famine lasted for Elijah, which is probably used symbolically as a famine of the gospel or apostacy.

Chapter 17 and 18 tell why the final destruction had to come, because Babylon, the beast, the false prophet, and the dragon are very wicked and have great hold on all the earth. Those things are already happening.

The 2nd coming will come as a thief in the night to most of the world, except to those who are watching for it. Most people will be oblivious to the fulfillment of the signs, which means they will probably be subtle fulfillment.

What do you think that means?  Does it have to do with this being the time to prepare to meet God?  Can we still repent during these destructions?  Or would that be in the deathbed category?

Individually, you might still have a few hours or days or maybe years to make final preparations, but I wouldn't wager my soul against it. The final destruction is beginning [when the 7th angel sounds his trumpet], many will die, and procrastinators won't have time to get any food storage, because the economy established by Babylon will be destroyed. Most of us have seen that popular depiction of Christ's Second Coming with the heavenly armies coming after him all sounding trumpets, (except his clothing will be red and they'll all be on horses). That is what is going to happen during the 7th angel's trumpet.

My mom is under the impression that Joseph Smith's work was the opening of the 7th seal, which means we could be well into the 7 angels sounding their trumpets.

If so, then the world wars, and all the other wars, tuberculosis, smallpox, AIDS, malaria, destruction of the environment, and social scourges (pornography, gambling, drugs) could be the fulfillment of the angels sounding their trumpets. If so, then I think we are somewhere with the 5th or 6th angel.

The 7th will start on Dec. 21, 2012!!! I don't really, but it makes me wonder because of a Celestial alignment in the Milky Way and on the shortest day of the year.

Anyway, I think we are rolling up to it, but not quite there. I think wickedness needs to increase. If Hillary gets elected, that would be the opening of the 7th.
