Anti-Mormon Sentiment Explosion?

I usually like to read the articles and comments on Townhall.com, but this whole Huckabee / Romney religion thing seems to have touched a nerve, and now it is just painful.

Mike Huckabees Low Blow
Romney: Attacks On Religion Go Too Far

And it isn't just this particular blog either, any news site that allows comments seems to have been taken over.

Add on top of that one guy going on a hateful rant about the LDS church on live TV, and I see a pattern. Things like this have always been around, but now people have an excuse to bring it out into the open.

What a mess. Guiliani isn't acceptable to the Social Conservatives, Huckabee isn't acceptable to the Fiscal Conservatives, Paul isn't acceptable to the Foreign Defense Conservatives, and Romney isn't acceptable to the anti-mormon Conservatives.

I consider myself a strong Republican, but if the party gets taken over by people who will do anything to keep Mormons out of office, just because of their religion, I don't think I could stay.

It's unfortunate that Huckabee is such a bigot. But wait... maybe it's not. Maybe this is going to plainly portray to the American people what they do not want to be or align themselves with. thumbsup.gif

PT: You bring up an interesting dillemma I think most folks have now, because of the way individual opinions seem to have higher value than compromise. Everyone has to be right about every little thing. Third party and fringe candidates are now the more important than actually winning an election and working for an overall compromise, and because our news is constantly about the hypocrisy in Washington DC, we simply don't trust anyone. Except for that one perfect candidate that's our guy... and that's it.

Interestingly enough... I am less afraid of the Anti -Mormon sentiments out there than I am the member against member "wars" I am seeing... Not just here on our forum...

Simple way to deal with the member against member "wars"...

Backyard plastic army men battles! :woot:

I bet the Scouts and YM would totally triumph against any and all comers... They would send the Junior Primary home in tears (Senior Primary boys may give them a decent challenge though), the YW wouldn't bother to show up, EQ would not be able respond quick enough, HP wouldn't know what hit them, and RS would be trying to figure out which enrichment committee is in charge of running the activity from their side... wink.gif

yeah, in my friend's stake it is VERY bad... and I have some extended family members that are active/inactive and that spend a lot of time "heated arguing" about politics too...
