How Tired Are You?

Have you ever been so stinkin' tired you can't even think straight?

Your body is awake but could fall asleep if you forget to open your eyes back up after a blink...

You can think of about two dozen things you would like to do or need to do but as soon as you start to focus in on actually determining what they are specifically your mind reverts to a giant mental yawn...

Sleep
Glorious Sleep
Wherefore art thou
Glorious Sleep

Must somehow stay awake until the five Child Things are in bed... probably won't occur until shortly before Poncho gets home from work...

8 p.m. and All's Swell!

I must not only do the Dew, I must be the Dew... to bad I don't have a Dew to get that good ole caffiene rush from... Poncho doesn't even have The Doctor in the house for medicinal purposes...

I enjoyed that feeling coming back home from the temple yesterday.

white line fever set in big time driving along I-65.

If it weren't for the persistent honking of truckers trying to race each other to the exits, it would have been a restful drive. Zzzzz

One Child Thing down...

Four to go...

Unfortunately, it was Child Thing One... the one who is sick with strep and is no trouble to get in bed 99% of the time anyway.

Child Thing Five, on the other hand was too busy to even sit down and eat her dinner... what that nursery age dynamo is running on I have no idea... Child Thing Two just got back from a short babysitting job about 1/2 hour ago and is now back on her homework... hopefully she will be in bed before mom get's home... so that she gets a few hours sleep before getting up for seminary (and yes, me taking her)... Child Things Three and Four have 15 minutes before I start warning them to get ready for bed. They will be in bed no later than 9 p.m., and if I'm lucky Child Thing Five will have worn herself out sufficiently that a small sippy cup of milk will be enough to konk her out...

I was just wondering if the piano teacher will be uncomfortable if i go to bed and leave the kid to be taught by himself...maybe she won't notice.

I feel your weariness, Cat.

I think Cat transferred his tiredness to me. I am major, mega tired. I overslept to the time child thing one's bus was supposed to arrive. I guess it's a good thing he's not going to school today.

And I betcha while I'm trying to get the two middle kids ready for school the youngest will be bounding out of bed all revved up and ready to go. :sigh: There's no justice in this world.

I spoke too soon... she just came meandering out.

And so marks my 1000th post. Where's the fanfare?

WOOHOO PONCHO!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!

I've been exhausted and running on....I don't know what. I've had a bad case of insomnia, a toddler who wont sleep except for at the most inconvient times and a sick family.
Now I have been up since 3 a.m. wanting to sleep but can't. I am absolutely determined to get a nap in today. wish me luck!

The Loudmouth household has, just this year, broken out of this terrible state of existence. Most of the time now, our kids both go to bed at the same time, one zonks out within 5 min, and the other quietly plays in her bed untill she's asleep. I do need to stay up until I can turn their light out, but it's usually not a problem.

Of course, the operative term is "most of the time". Last night, SmallChild came in at 11:30 and I had to put her back. Then wife forgot to set the auto-shutoff on the TV, so the opening titles of the CD played over and over, which always wakes me up. And at 3:45, SmallChild came in again and had to be put back again.

But these nights are the exception now, not the rule. It used to be the rule for years and years - but it isn't any more.

Loudmouth, how did you make the change?

I'm a nightowl, and even though I know how much better I'd operate by going to bed early, it's a ridiculously hard habit to break.

I am tired, but more than that I am weary. Can I shoot for a mood of Christmas cheer in, say a week or two? I think I'll pencil that in.

I'm usually tired in the mornings.  Then after that first ten minutes with 22 five-year-olds, I've got enough energy to last until about 3:30.  Then I'm close to exhaustion. smile

I have much too long a list of things to do to go to bed early. Looks like another tired day, coming up.

I'm always tired. The work week goes something like this: graveyard shift 8 p.m. to 6 a.m, bed by 6:30 a.m., usually awake betweeen 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., off to the DI for three hours. Home around 2ish. Pick up the kids from school 3:30 ish. Back to bed for a nap around 4:00 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. and then back up at 7:00 p.m. to go back to the graveyard shift. Let's not even discuss the sunday schedule, especially with the upcoming transition to 9 a.m. meetings...and working Saturday nights...and Sunday nights...sleepy.gif

I am so very much looking forward to January and sleeping in. Our meetings will then begin at 1PM!

My wife hates it as she says it wastes half the day and the primary kids are much less reverent in the afternoon during nap time. Asi es la vida... que sera, sera!

Definitely tired day for me. I added one too many things to my to-do list...

We switch to 8:30 in January. *grumble, grumble, grumble*

oh, you meant REALLY do your job of offering quality customer assistance and care.

I got sleep last night! Wahoo!

It's a good thing.

Today Sweetheart and I have been asked to give talks in the stake conference of a neighboring stake.

Tomorrow I am teaching Gospel Doctrine (God is Love) AND Elder's Quorum....

I'm done with the talk and the GD lesson.... now to put finishing touches on the PH lesson and then get a haircut, shop at Costco and go give the talk.

Next week son #2 will be doing his Eagle Project so I'm praying for a non rainy weekend.

Merry Christmas y'all.

Good gravy, Mahonri! i thought it was bad when I had to give a talk in my own ward, lead the music in Sacrament meeting, lead music for nursery, and teach RS all in one week. You got me beat!

As to being tired -- I'm always tired, though I get TONS of sleep. i blame the anti-depressants.

We made it. I must say, it's the first time I've ever seen a woman speak at a stake priesthood leadership meeting of a stake conference but my wife did a fabulous job. She is the best.

The brethren all paid attention to us. I knew one of the stake patriarchs there and the counselor in the mission presidency... both former stake presidents that I had training meetings with back in the olden days.

Two lessons to go and I can relax for a day then it's seminary lessons.... but this is the last week to teach until January.

What is this, the "I'm more tired than you, because..." pity party? Stop whining and go to bed for the love of Pete.

Stop whining and go to bed

Going to bed is not the "issue" for some people...

One of the conditions of some health issue is feeling tired. Hence the reason I don't believe we will be tired in Heaven.

Poncho... did you and Cat both get some rest?

Yeah, we got some rest thanks Polly. But, it doesn't feel like enough. I'm still tired.

Yesterday I worked for 8 hours (and it was busy--we did over 182 scripts) came home and helped Cat untangle a bunch of outdoor Christmas lights, then went to my work Christmas party.
Then went to Best Buy for a bit of Christmas shopping without the pleasure of any of the company of our kids (it was around 10:30 at this point).
Came home and tried to repair the damage to the house our younger kids did while we were gone.
I rolled into bed around midnight.

This morning I got up for our 9 am church (we actually were on time for once- woo hoo!) and then it all hit me during Sacrament.
We came home today and I took a nap but it wasn't long enough. I need some more zzz's. sleepy.gif
