I have been reading the Ensign and wondering if everyone has a hard time picking a 'favorite' message, or if it's just me? Each talk has so much in it that it's hard to believe it was squeezed into one single address.
I am teaching the 4th Sunday in December (as a sub for our regular gal who will be Christmasing with family out of town) from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland's remarks "The Only True God and Jesus Christ Whom He Hath Sent".
Since my copy of the talk is now redolent with highlighter, and frankly I'm a bit dizzy from the smell, I've had a tough time sorting out just where to begin and what to emphasize. I know that when I pray about it, that the passages I have highlighted AND underlined are the 'right' passages for presentation for OUR particular ward and the needs of our sisters right now.
It is always so amazing to me that the information that needs to be shared through the Spirit of the Lord just LEAPS off the page to me.
While the entire address that Elder Holland has given is, in and of itself, a tremendous series of thoughts and teachings, to just give it a 'dry reading' would be a huge disservice. I had even thought of showing the video of Elder Holland himself presenting his remarks and then discussing the points that were highlighted in my mind as I have prepared.
Suggestions? Ideas? Volunteers to take my place? (there would be a pie in it for you!)
I'll volunteer to take your place. But I probably don't care as much about the lesson as you do, so I bet you'll do much better--even if it's not perfect in your mind--than I would. :)

What kind of pie? It wouldn't happen to be blueberry...?
I would probably just start with the beginning of my "plan" and keep the good points there ready to be mentioned at a glance... and then sort of let the discussion lead where it leads.
'Course, as a teacher that goes with a point if people are really getting into it and the Spirit is there and I feel people are growing and benefiting from it. That's why I've been known to hijack threads, too. Other people do not like that approach. I've been in lessons where a teacher has literally cut people off mid-sentence to finish reciting the manual before the bell rang.
