I always decorate my house with a ton of lights. We live on a farm so no one really gets to enjoy them but my kids really like them. I added a couple of things last year and plugged them into an older part of the electrical system. It wasn't overloaded like Clark Griswald and I didn't have any problems. When I took them down though I noticed the outlet was a bit singed. The breaker never tripped but it looks like it got a little warm so this year I won't use that outlet. On the other side of the house I use an outlet that will trip the breaker if I run the blowdryer and the bathroom light when the lights are on outside. I use timers and turn them on first thing in the morning before the sun comes up and for an hour or so after the sun goes down. It happens every year that I forget and start blowdrying at 6am when those lights come on and next thing I know I'm in complete darkness and my wife is outside with a flashlight trying to find the breaker that tripped. Good times!
