Kimberly-Clark Rolls Out First Automatic Toilet Paper Dispenser

Hey, if you can't do it with one sheet, then you should surely be able to do it in five!

Having experienced the motion detector automatic paper towel dispensors first hand, I loved this line in the article:

Call it a final frontier of cheapness if you wish.

Of course, the reference comparing Americans to Europeans was priceless too, cuz we all know Europeans are so much better than us in everything, even the amount of TP to use.  But, I guess it really just goes to show you we have cleaner hands and we're more concerned about hygiene... wink.gif

Heck, the Europeans who use bidets don't even need TP! The gubment should mandate bidets for America!  Until enviro nazis decide that bidets use too much water.  Then we can adopt the practice of nomadic desert tribes and use our left hand and only eat and conduct business with our right.  Until the public health nazis decide that it poses an unacceptable risk of spreading disease.  So maybe the ultimate solution would be permanently attached suction tubes, but of course that would require a buttload (heh) of new plastic and that means more reliance on petroleum...

Some automation is well done, but much of it is not. Certain automatic faucets, for instance, give you just a second of water and then shut off, so you wind up waving your hands in front of the sensor to try to get enough water to wash your hands. I'm fairly certain that you wind up using more water in several short squirts than you would if the stream were continuous.

I like automatic toilet, faucets and paper towel dispensers, because i don't have to touch the controls to get the water to turn on. I also wish all bathrooms were constructed with outward swinging doors so that I didn't have to touch the doorknob or handle to get out, thus contaminating my just washed hands with germs from those less civilized folk. Yes. You know who you are.
