The two oldest Roper boys bought a Wii with money they received for Christmas. Their mom insisted that it stay at her house until summer break (weird, but that's another issue.) So now that they're with us for the rest of the summer, they brought it over.
Let me just say that an hour of doubles tennis on Wii Sports is in every way similar to an hour of racquetball--sore shouder and everything. Yeah, I know, you can do everything from a chair by just moving your wrist. Not the Roper clan! We're up, moving our feet, making full swings (good thing for those wrist straps), tripping over each other, and generally having a wonderful time. Now I'm gonna need some really intense addiction counseling!

Being an ex jock type, I just can't get into playing sports video games. I'd rather go out and play them for real. My brother in law is into the Wiii big time but I just don't get it.
Is the wii available freeley yet, or do you still need to sell your firstborn? I know as of a month ago it was still hard to find.

They bought it about two months ago for the normal retail price at GameStop. They tried to get it at Costco for about three months, but every time a new shipment would come in, the store employees would buy them all for family, friends, etc. I would think that a store would have some kind of limit for employee purchases in fairness to their retail customers.

My kids were given one by a friend... He won it in some kind of contest, and didn't want it... he is a widower and not into video games, he'[s more of an old fashioned pinball guy he says... We offered to buy it, but he is not the kind of person that cares about selling stuff he has, so he just gave it to them... Anyway, it took us a few months to find extra controllers so the group could do stuff together... However, hubby is very disappointed in the time they have taken to make the OLD games available...
Our kids do really like the sports stuff... I understand boxing is quite the workout too...

Well, technically speaking, Costco is a wholesale warehouse club (yeah, like the prices are always wholesale... ), so employees could easily be considered just the same as the average "retail" customer who is a member, so it would be fair game (no pun intended) for an employee to buy something as a non-employee member... But yeah, you would think that management would set some sort of limit for purchases on hot ticket items from employees, particularly if they get an employee discount on top of the member "discount". Of course, if the warehouse location manager is one of the ones buying them all up too...

We got a Wii the first weekend it came out. We have no kids, but we LOVE it. It's just such a fun plaything. Admittedly, most of the games don't take advantage of the controllers like Wii Sports does, but it does such a good job! And they announced Wii Fit at E3 this year and that looks SWEET. Now 2 of my brothers and one of my sisters have Wiis and we delight in seeing our Miis travel from Wii to Wii.
