Poems about Death

Death
(by RayB)

I am a mouth full of teeth.
My eyes are microscopic.
My ears have fallen off.
My nose smells only decay.

---

Ever written poetry about death? It's a very common topic among poets, and yet, one wonders...

Is it strange to do it?

I find it strangely cathartic to throw words at it, even if they're grim and somewhat gloomy.  I never used to, but had I as a teen in high school in this day and age I'd probably end up in the Dylan Klebold reform school for misdirected boys...  This thread is for the posting of anything, no matter how dismal or for that matter the opposite about death. Clearly if you need meds and this is something you fixate upon, it's unhealthy but I think a little bit of poetry goes a long way, imo... in a way you can put things in a poem that you just never really explore any other way.

Die, die, die.
There's a gun to my eye.
Dead, dead, dead.
Bullet through my head.

A little goes a long way, indeed. rofl.gif

I agree... and yet your personality comes through in your poetry, Coco. :)

Poison, heart attack, drowning, fall,
The ways to die are many, y'all.
Gunshot, arrows, asphixiation,
Drunkard brawls at a celebration,
Diabetes, cancer, heart valves that seep,
One thing I know, I wanna' die in my sleep!
