Do you have a rice cooker? Well if you do... here's something that looks fun to try...

Ate rice twice a day as a missionary.  And rice is one of the staples in our food storage.  I have always and will always have at least one functional rice cooker.  Gonna have to try the bread.  Maybe this weekend after I try Coco's Hawaiian Haystacks.

Only people who have not been taught how to cook rice "properly" need a rice cooker... My momma taught me... My rice is ALWAYS perfect... No matter what kind... wink

We have no room for "specialty" items in our modest home...  Appliance graveyards full of appliances that only do one thing are something I personally don't understand...  Honestly it's just the grouchy lady in me that HATES clutter...   aww    biggrin   wink

I can make rice 'properly' on the stove. But with the rice cooker, I can enslave my children into kitchen duty at appallingly young ages...

I thought about trying this, but baking in the oven isn't any harder. It does heat up my kitchen once a week, but I can get 4 loaves done at a time, and it won't kill my rice cooker. See this warning from the link:

Keep in mind that you are using a rice cooker for something it was never intended to be used for. Do not leave the rice cooker unattended, and keep it as far away from flammable materials as possible (papers, curtains, etc.).

Rice cookers turn off when the temperature rises above 212 degrees Fahrenheit (100C) Forcing it to stay on makes it run much hotter than that. In addition to being a fire risk, this will also shorten the life of your rice cooker and void any warranties.

What's a rice cooker? wink.gif Is it like those steam things that chinese restaurants give you rice from where the rice becomes hard as a rock and inedible again as soon as it cools down?

We boil rice in a pot on the stove...

My wife spent some years as a child in Japan, and so she has to have rice at least once a week. The kids all love it. I'm not a huge rice person, myself, but I find it amusing how much of a staple it is for a large percentage of the world...

And everyone in Japan has a rice-cooker. When you and your family comes to visit, Roper, my sweetie will be delighted to make Hawaiian Haystacks, that's her fave... along with most of my daughters... (save one)

Last Blue and Gold we did those... cuz the theme was Hawaiian... sumthing... er... other...
