My ULTIMATE Private School

If you were head of a brand-new, state of the art private school, what would you include in a curriculum, if you had unlimited funds?

Like the ultimate private school experience for your kids or grandkids... or even for yourself, if you wanted to think of an ongoing education experience...

I would include the old school stuff like archery, rifle shooting, obstacle courses. I would also have a really cool science lab and the greatest gymnasium on the planet. I would also have a planetarium with observatory. It would all be wireless high speed. There would also be full wood, metal, and auto shops. There would also be a state of the art photo/video/media department with a TV and radio Broadcasting/training. The swimming pool would have waterslides rivaling a water park and be open to the public during the summer at a very reasonable charge. There would be a full Ag Department with farms for animals and plants including a state of the art greenhouse. There would be a music hall with the best instruments and an on campus art museum and lecture halls. There would be a museum for each area of study with relics. The history deparment would have a museum as well as a natural history museum for the science department. There would be a weather station to collect data on weather and climate. There would be several acres of forested area with trails for the cross country team to do all their training in with hills and creeks.

Clarinet and interpretative dance. And perhaps boat driving for good measure.

Boat driving!!!! Definitely!!! A nice lake with lots of different types of boats including sail boats, row boats, canoes, an old steam paddle wheeler. It would have to be stocked with lots of bass too and have a couple islands. Basically, just give me the state of Oregon or Washington for my school and I'll be happy.

Would you take all the liberal hippies if we gave you Oregon?

Oh, I forgot to include a course in nematode control, Ka-ratay, crab economics, and fry cookery...

[alert... major whine attack] I am sticking with "consentrating on the art of perfecting the NAP"...  With a school fully of REALLY great beds and nature sound machines to help in this process...

Today, I am REALLY tired...  My list of to-dos, during the transition to a full Corp Accounts Payable Dept is HUGE, it gets longer everyday... and it is supposed to be 95% done by June 15th... (I have no idea if I will still have any responsiblities for support after the 15th or not...  But it doesn't matter really...

So this afternoon, all I can think of is a nap...  Sorry, I'll be silent now... invisible.gif [/whine]

I'd want a full sized swimming pool.
Gymnasium
Stage and amphitheatre.
A dozen computer labs...
An atrium would be nice with tropical birds, a citrus grove, and a butterfly pavillion.
We'd have to build on the coast so we could study Marine Biology.
A private air field large enough to land my private jets.
An Observatory with a massive telescope would be great...
A launchpad for launching rockets and our private satellites into space... at least until we built a space elevator.
A vast library with everything ever printed...

Hey... this is fun... and getting expensive! biggrin

And lots of geniuses to teach foreign languages, especially Spanish and Chinese, methinks.
Also heavy-duty survivalism stuff.
And more geniuses for teaching musical instruments.
