I have thoroughly enjoyed the Spencer W. Kimball manual. It seems as if we don't wander into the land of wife-pooh's very much. Maybe they got it out of their system last year, yo no se.
Teachings for our time, however, is dangerous ground.
Last time I attended an EQ meeting which went all wifey-pooh-loving was as a visitor in EQ, and sure nuff it was during one of those teachings for our times episodes... no wait, it was the EQ pres presenting Pres. Faust's talk on marriage a couple months ago.
Anyhoe there was one "mature" (late 20s) single guy there who confessed that he thought people who married at age 21 right off their missions were jumping the shark, and needed to wait a few years rather than get married and end up being immature and divorced.
The rest of the EQ just kinda sat there and took his little rant, evidently because they cared for this fellow. I'd already said my peace about how if I were giving advice about marriage, I'd tell everyone not to be afraid of it...
Meh. I think the sissification of some men in the church results in a complete lack of desire to try marriage at all...
