I like Bountiful and am glad for it, thankyou ALL! I did try Andrew's site, however, his site doesn't work too well for me, due to my computer, I think. I keep having to reenter my username/password,e tc.
So as a temporary solution, I created a yahoo group for those who would like to check it out. The format is a little different than a messageboard. However, all who wish to join are welcome to do so.
Right now the membership is open to all. If needed, maybe in a few days, I'll adjust the parameters. All are welcome, I included a link to Bountiful on that site, if that is ok. If you don't want the link, I can remove it!
Linking to Bountiful on your Yahoo group is a good idea. If you want to post a link to Bountiful, but you don't run the list or forum, it is simple courtesy to ask permission first.

You know... email groups are fine, but they just aren't as convenient as forums for staying up to date... I am not particularly partial to yahoo... their whole presence irritates me... They are TOO intrusive in my book.
For years our family had a group at Ancestry, but I didn't care for the format, and a few years ago we switched to a Gmail group still, I miss the forum setup with topics and "recent posts"... I have been looking at options to do something private in the forum realm.Andrew's set up that he has done for displaced Nauvoodles has really intrigued me...Its got a lot of pluses actually there are some advantages to the layout in this forum world too and the prices are reasonable.Extended family communication is a major part of my lifestylemany in my family are willing to share the cost, the uncles, aunts and cousins get into the mix too, so its a pretty good sized group.
So is this just an email group? I'm not familiar with Yahoo Groups.

Hi Ray- basically it is a email group. You can sign up to get individual emails. Or you can read the messages "on the home page". Others receive messages by daily digest. To register, one creates a user name and a password.
The problem is the plethora of messages that can result. For example, I'm on a primary page yahoo group that sometimes has had dozens of messages a day. So I changed my personal setting so I only read the messages on the home page.
If one reads the messages on the home page, you can either read them in the actual order (ie individual message) or by group topic (all posts from a thread together). Other wise, if you don't read it by group topic, all posts from all topics can "run together", in the order in which they were received.
there are problems and annoyances w/these groups. Messages don't always post promptly. Also like Quid said at Andrew's site, the threads can be hard to follow due to the order in which posts are received.
That type of format is really best for groups that have only a few key threads. These yahoo groups are used (unofficially)in single land to communicate activities, etc.
Still, there is a lot of good w/them- you can post pictures, links, add folders, etc.
