I was woken up this morning by these beeping noises, and I figured it was the smoke detector. I changed its batteries, still beeping, I tested its alarm, still beeping. I tried looking it up on the internet, meanwhile it was still beeping. I was getting very annoyed.
I finally had it, I disconnected it from the house wiring, and removed its battery to see if that would make it stop. BEEP! It was then I realized it was my CO detector having a fit. I replaced its batterys, tested its alarm. And now everything is quiet again.
I put the battery back into the smoke detector, and connect it back up again. No more worries.
Yeah...when our's need a change in batteries it always takes awhile to figure out what it is.
At my parents house, when the smoke detector got old and the sponge started disintegrating, it kept going off like there was a fire. Three times in one night! Only my mom heard it though, until the third time. I was having a dream about saving a homeless boy, and in the midst of it he started crying, and his cry changed into a ringing sound, which was really the smoke detector. After that we figured it was time for a new one.

When I went to the MTC the first night there, one of the other elders from a different room got there early, they unscrewed a vent and put an alarmclock in it, set to go off at 2am. This was the beginning of a many cherished experiences in which I was rudely awakened... both spiritually and temporally.
