Lately every single article on Townhall that mentions Mitt Romney has comments that turn into a Mormon bashing session. This article on the other hand really pushed it over the edge I think.
This obsession over who is christian and not, I fear is going to boil over and make things messy before the Republican nomination.
I am all ok if you aren't going to vote for Romney based on his politics, but please juge a candidate on their political views, not their religious ones. I am afraid for the future of the Republican party if the evangelicals in a sense kick us out.
Well... I hope we see more of this... and that Mitt wins the nomination.

There are many lies and assumptions in that article. One of the many is that mormons have only recently claimed to be christian. We have proclaimed the whole time that we're christian. It is not a recent development. And what he labels as "orthodox christianity" varies wildly in what it claims to believe. There is no one orthodox christian belief. It seems mostly that when such people define our church as not christian, they come up with a definition of christianity that specifically excludes the church.

Did anybody note the link for sending Frank Pastore an email and the link for posting a comment/reply? Did anyone tell him he full of horsefeathers on some points?
It's sad really, people stumble upon anti-mormon articles and somehow think they are more authoritive then asking us directly.
And reading the comments to this article is a bittersweet experience. Somehow there are a lot of people who refuse to allow us to call ourselves christians, thinking that it is deceptful or something.
Just to think that the entire country might end up like this with this PBS special on 'The Mormons', the movie September Dawn, and Mitt Romney running for president.
The point by point rebuttal is rather weak in places, but there were some interesting thoughts therein as well. Then again, if you were writing a rebuttal...

It is somewhat weak in some areas, maybe I will write a rebuttal. This kind of thing is really starting to annoy me.
The "Mormons" on PBS continued the false notion that Christ visited the Americas before his resurrection... where do folks come up with this garbage?

perhaps there's some confusion because the Book of Mormon prophets Lehi and Nephi and Jacob all claim to have seen their Redeemer, which is 600 years before he is even born! I think we often forget that most folks think that (due to the lack of plainnesss in the Biblical record) the idea of a Christ hit the world as a complete surprise. SO when we talk about prophets before Christ testifying of Him, and then talk of Christ himself visiting the Americas, it's probably something people do in their minds--not quite putting it altogether... because we understand the story so well, and they've never heard it...
