What I want to know is why you put that quote up Ray.
To me it's a little yogi bearish, but heck it's also true.

I suscribe to LDS Quote of the Day... and it popped up. It's one of those doctrinal points that accentuates the nature of eternity and freedom of choice, and demonstrates the power of sealing too... It's also a sentiment I shared with my father once, as my mother and father have had a tumultuous relationship--both are quite strong willed in their own passive aggressive ways... and of course it translates into all sorts of loveliness for the 7 kids they had... but then again, that's the real trouble, learning to live with a potential god and goddess... :)

Do quotes have to be overly nuanced in order to be noteworthy? Isn't that the same criticism given against the Book of Mormon? It's all been said in the Bible... just rephrased here and there... not worth reading... just read the Bible.

"August 13, 1856, Wednesday, Florence, Nebraska Territory. Today we continued preparations for starting. Evening we held [a] meeting in camp. Brother Willie exhorted the Saints to go forward regardless of suffering even to death. After he had spoken, he gave me the opportunity of speaking. I said to him that if I spoke, I must speak my mind, let it cut where it would. He said certainly to do so.
"I then related to the Saints the hardships that we should have to endure. I said that we were liable to have to wade in snow up to our knees and shovel at night, lay ourselves in a thin blanket and lie on the frozen ground without a bed. [I said it] was not like having a wagon that we could go into and wrap ourselves in as much as we liked and lie down. No, said I, we are without wagons, destitute of clothing, and could not carry it if we had it. We must go as we are.
"The handcart system I do not condemn. I think it preferable to unbroken oxen and inexperienced teamsters. The lateness of the season was my only objection to leaving this point for the mountains at this time. I spoke warmly upon the subject, but spoke truth.
"Elder Willie then spoke again in reply to what I had said, evidently dissatisfied, and said that the God he served was a God that was able to save to the uttermost,... and he wanted no Job's comforters with him.
"I then said that what I had said was truth, and if Elder Willie does not want me to act in the place where I am, he is at full liberty to place another man in my stead, and I would not think hard of him for it, but I did not care what he said about Job's comforters. I had spoken nothing but the truth, and he and others knew it."
--journal of Levi Savage, Jr., 13 August 1856. Appointed captain over the second hundred of the Willie handcart company three days before it left Iowa City, about a month before this entry... (he is my great-great uncle, and a man whom I hope to meet someday as he is a great example of honesty, faith, loyalty, and dedication to the Gospel in spite of injustices he experienced throughout his life from fellow Saints)

Each holy temple stands as a symbol of our membership in the Church, as a sign of our faith in life after death, and as a sacred step toward eternal glory for us and our families.
Once about every 3 or 4 weeks, this phenomenon will occur at my house. The two oldest will be at school and all three home-kiddos will be asleep at the same time. It's like lining up the planets or something. I usually am overcome with the shock and I just utterly waste the time... I need to get a grip!

Hey, if you don't build the house you're living in, you're not responsible for the leaks in the roof. But, the house we do build should include the features of being bouyont, like a houseboat, since there appears to be some water travel involved... that is how I read it.

I testify that the earth and all life upon it are of divine origin. The Creation did not happen by chance. . . . It is God who made us and not we ourselves.
Even when the armaments of war ring out in deathly serenade . . . there stands immovable, reassuring, comforting, and with great outreaching love the quiet figure of the Son of God, the Redeemer of the world.

"One warm evening during the past summer months Sister Ashton and I enjoyed a professional baseball game. During the early part of the competition our attention was diverted from the action by a late arriver. As he walked by, he spotted me and asked, 'Who's losing?' I responded with, 'Neither one.' Following my answer, I noticed that he glanced at the right-field scoreboard, saw the game wasn't tied, and walked on, undoubtedly wondering about me. Seconds after he made his way to a distant seat, Sister Ashton said, 'He doesn't know you very well, does he?' 'What makes you say that?' I replied. She responded with, 'If he did, he would know you don't believe anyone is losing. Some are ahead and some are behind, but no one is losing. Isn't that right?' I smiled in approval with a warm feeling inside. Proper attitude in this crisis-dominated world is a priceless possession. Never before is it more important for all of us to move forward with conviction. We may be behind, but we are not losing if we are moving in the right direction. God will not score our performances until the end of the journey."
"I say that we need to teach our people to find their answers in the scriptures...But the unfortunate thing is that so many of us are not reading the scriptures. We do not know what is in them, and therefore we speculate about things that we ought to have found in the scriptures themselves. I think that therein is one of our biggest dangers of today." (President Harold B. Lee, December, 1972)
"Pray for peace in the earth, that the Almighty who governs the universe will stretch forth His hand and let His Spirit brood upon the people, that the nations may not rage one against another."

Our hope concerning the future is great and our faith is strong. We know that we have scarcely scratched the surface of that which will come to pass in the years that lie ahead.
