In my mind, it ranks right up there with some of the other grotesque looking sculptures and paintings depicting the crucifixition. It is not appealing to look at, so I don't blame folks for being upset about it... but, the "righteous indignation" expressed is a little flat since the same sort of reaction does not get made about so many of the modern art pieces that do have a loin cloth in place.

Actually the mohammed comment is, imo, a weak comparison, unless you think that Christians should start issuing death threats. I think most people don't make a public spectacle of Islam because they don't want to be killed. It's to Christianity's credit that we turn the other cheek... no matter how naked and chocolatey.... mmmm... chocolate cheeks...

the article to which Cat referenced mentions that the catholic reaction is called by some "a catholic fatwah"... thus the attempt to make Islam and Christianity equivalent.
