Household chores

Gotta do the dishes... it's getting late... so any of you have household chores or do you just do whatever needs to be done?

I vacuumed the floors and finished all the dishes after 3 hours of PPI's this evening.... also fed and watered the dog and changed the water and added more seeds for our parakeet and put him to bed. Ain't life grand?

I have the regular chore of changing the cat litter boxes, but that's the only thing that only I do and has to be done every day. Otherwise, it's by need. I often change the baby's diaper or put him to bed, but it's not specifically my chore.

I do as little as possible. That is one aspect of the natural man in me I enjoy holding onto.

Take out the trash and do the outside, yard stuff. Other stuff as needed to help the wife and kids. I believe in child slave labor and I'm going to get every ounce of work out of them until they leave!

Even our 16 month old has his chore. If he spreads pens around the floor, he helps mommy pick them up.
He also has several self assigned chores. For instance, last night we gave him, for the first time, macaroni and cheese. He spent most of dinner dumping the macaroni and cheese out of his cup, then putting it back in, then dumping it out...

My father had me on a tractor at age 6 and so I do my best to keep my kids busy around the yard and house. It gives them character... but I will admit that sometimes it would just be easier to do it myself.

My kids have chores. The oldest two (12 and 10) divide up the yard and pick up dog poo every day. One medium sized dog. Then they have to pick up in their rooms, do their homework and do another chore(s) that I give them after school, such as Magic Erasering some place that the little ones got to, or vacuuming or wiping the kitchen/bathroom floors or doing the windows. 12-yr-old son also feeds/waters the dog, feeds the chickens and gets a reading assignment from me. Usually some talk from a GA - been on politics or last days lately - reads it online. Then... they can play. This last week he's been helping my husband prune trees. No school or work today, so that'll be about 8 hrs. worth. Usually it's 2-3 hours after hubby gets home from work. Still he manages to get a goodly number of hours gaming online in. Amazing.

My husband is generally in charge of getting the garbage out on garbage day. My 4yo daughter is supposed to clear the table sometime during the day. I don't really have anything that's specifically mine. I just do damage control on whatever's most urgent.

Generally, because I stay home with no kids and my husband works, I am in charge of most stuff around the house except for the fish tank and the litter boxes. But since my surgery, I haven't been able to do much. Yesterday I played solitaire while my husband cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed, cleaned the litterboxes, and did the yardwork. I tell ya, it's almost worth being sick. ;)

I cook and do most of the grocery shopping, do lots of home repair stuff (our home is almost 80 years old), maintain the yard and garden, maintain the vehicles, take care of the trash and composting, and do bedtime routines with the wee ones.  I love my chores!

Sister Roper is a SAHM, manages the family budget, does the dishes, keeps the floors clean, does the laundry, and works full time loving, educating, and counseling with our children.  She doesn't enjoy doing her chores as much as I enjoy doing mine, but she feels better than I do when they're done.  She's a destination type and I'm a journey type.

Our older boys have chores to help with our chores.

I do the food buying and meal preparation.  DH does the car fixing/maintainance, lawn mowing, tree pruning.  I plant flowers, clean house and take care of the little ones while he's at work.  Other things we pretty much do together, like gardening, taking care of the kids, etc...  Although I can't get him to do much as far as learning hairstyles for our 4 yo daughter who has beautiful, long, naturally wavy hair.  It was Shirley Temple like, but now it's relaxing a bit because it's longer and heavier.  I tell him, "You realize if something happens to me, you're going to have to cut her hair.  It'll be a rat nest in two days if you don't take care of it."  Oh, and my favorite job, which I've decidedly seized, is...
