No man knows the day nor the hour....

The Apocalypse of John is written with a great deal of numerical symbology. Taking the numbers literally could very well be a mistake. The "third part" is a rabbinical term meaning "a significant portion of", rather like "forty days and forty nights" means "a significant period of time, especially a time of trial."

That's interesting. I didn't know that.

Elder McConkie quoted the scriptures from Revelation that Coco outlined.

Not to mention that it doesn't say "third equal part" ... I can divide a group into 3 parts without each part being 1/3 of the whole. But I subscribe to the symbology, primarily. Revelation is chock FULL of symbols.

Man, if only the angel would've just left things alone and let Nephi tell the story. But no...

I kept on seeing more folks had posted to this thread, but everytime I went to it, I just kept on seeing Ray's last post on page 1.

No, I did not start the forum, nor did I start the thread...

Let's just say, I've had other things on my mind... like work, things that needed fixing around the house, getting taxes done, amongst other things... that my eyes never noticed the thread had spilled over to another page...

Taxes? Seriously? That's the best you can come up with? Nobody's still doing taxes...

I still haven't finished mine... and I will probably owe this year. Next week I'm going to buckle down and get them done... my accountant continues to remind me.

Well, okay. If you're gonna owe, I guess there's no hurry.
