There is a school of thought among some online political commentators that it would be a good thing for the Dems to win in 2008, because then the War on Terror would become a bipartisan war, and the Democrats would have to start getting serious about it.  I am not sure I agree with this, but if the Dems had to win, or were sure to win, which of their candidates would you want to see win, and why?

I think there's a reason so few former Senators get elected as compared to Governors. Being Governor is like being in charge of a mini-country--a trial run for the real deal.

I was going to reply, but I better not.  As a nation we are getting what we deserve.

Definitely Richardson.  He has been a decent governor for our neighbor, New Mexico and has some good experience as a state representative and UN ambassador.  He has cut taxes in New Mexico while keeping a budget surplus and despite raising teacher pay, environmental iniatives and a light rail line.

I'm not partial to any of them. I either know too little or have been fed too much spin about them to consider any.

Unlike some folks, I don't consider them to be modern day Gadiantans, but I would definitely log most of them as King Men...

I voted for Al Gore. Cus he's so pathetic, a republican victory immediately following his disastrous reign of terror would be garanteed.

Richardson all the way. He has been good for New Mexico and seems to be a bit more moderate than the rest. When I have seen him interviewed on television his answers weren't as wacko as the rest. I will take a governor from the southwest over a liberal yankee or turn coat southernor anyday!

That is tempting...but how bad do we come out after his four years?

I voted for Joe Biden.  Of the group, he has more intelligence than the rest of them put together.

When questioning Aleto and Roberts as nominees to the Supreme Court, he bowed totheir superior intelligence.   None of the rest of that group would be smart enough to do even that.

As for his history: So he plagerized and got caught.  Big deal... I'd rather have him at the helm than any of the others.  He would surround himself with smart people.

I found the following quote which illustrates my feelings on the matter:
"Socialism needs two legs on which to stand; a right and a left. While appearing to be in complete opposition to one another,
they both march in the same direction.
-- Paul Proctor

Whether we've had Republicans or Democrats in power, we've been moving the same direction. While a democrat in power would be bad, I don't really see how most of the Republican candidates would be much better. So, if a Democrat had to be in power, just about any of them would do.

So...you're saying you want to vote for rolling around rather than walking forward?
