I am neutral as to whether it is inappropriate for the forum. Sure, it is not the sort of joke that is appropriate for telling at a Church meeting of any kind. But I wouldn't be surprised to hear it told around a campfire with or by the Scouts (gasp) ... I don't see it is any more tacky than blonde jokes or some of the other topics that get brought up in Bountiful. Is the tackiness and inappropriateness from poking fun at the hill folk of Appalachia, or from the slight off-color nature of one portion of the joke?
Perhaps Mahonri can take the opportunity to perform due diligence on the posting before a moderation action occurs. He did preface it with somewhat of a proceed with caution.
Remember, what we do here sets a precedent one way or the other...
Just my thoughts, FWIW

I can never figure out what the facts are, Catherder. I am seemingly unable to wade through all the smoke you blow in order to figure out what you are saying.
For example, this:
Remember, what we do here sets a precedent one way or the other...
Have we ever had to moderate a post for inappropriate content? Let's just be careful we don't set the wrong precedent. We should have some sort of consensus on what the standard will be for "appropriate" content. Do we moderate in such a way that the definition of the inappropriateness defaults to the most sensitive among us, or do we leave things completely alone and let any coarse humor or language in, or do we find a middle ground? That's all. Some may find it highly inappropriate, and others may not be bothered by it.

The question is, is Bountiful a place where crude jokes are welcome? But I wouldn't be surprised to hear it told around a campfire with or by the Scouts (gasp) ...
Is that the standard for acceptable jokes at Bountiful -- what is funny to 12-year old boys?
I just now noticed your request... I didn't see this post before I edited.
I'll be careful in the future.
My apologies.
