All Hail Hugo the First!

Wow!  The representatives of the people unanimously installed a dictator in Venenzuala.  I guess they already had one and just needed to make it official.  I don't understand how those people can be so willing to give up their freedoms.  http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,248929,00.html

It is easy really, if you just follow the pattern of how pre-WWII Germany allowed the rise of Hitler to power.  He makes them "feel good" about themselves and that it is other people's faults that things were / are bad for them and that by following his nationalistic view and agenda, they will be better off as well as respected.

It is only a matter of time before he seeks to create his own little empire now by "liberating" other "oppressed" latin american and south american nations smaller than his own fiefdom...

I personally think that a government which can efficiently create new regulations is a bad thing. This is an obvious dictatorial grab. In a truly representative parliamentary body, the representatives are never unanimous about anything. They could vote on which day of the week it is and not get unanimous consent. When a parliament votes unanimously, it's a sure sign that something is fishy.

This will surely destabilize an already destabilized region.

Yea, it reminds me of how Sadam used to win the "democratic" elections in Iraq by 99% of the vote.

I guess this settles the debate as to whether the Nephites landed in South or North America... Cuz it looks like South America just established a King...

It looks like thousands of Venenzualans are trying to leave the country. Not a good sign.

Well, when you promise to redistribute wealth from oil to millions of poor people who don't think they have any rights to begin with, you can get alot of support.

That's how these communist revolutions always begin; you build the envy between the classes. Do any of you, though, think that there's a chance of the poor seeing any significant portion of that oil money?

Not a chance.  They'll be employed as slave labor making non-descript black shoes or something and fed propoganda about how great their life is.

Is that like bonefide.  Like in that movie O Brother Where Art Thou when the little girl says "He's Bonefide."?
