Kennedy's Iraqi Refugees

In an attempt to out-triangulate Bush, apparently Ted Kennedy is putting forth legislation to accept "hundreds of thousands" of Iraqi refugees, skipping the vetting process and injecting them into the country as a way to provide safe harbor to folks devastated by our massive quagmire in Iraq.

 Whaddya think?

Good idea?

Is Ted merely feeling guilty about how the democratic congress treated the Viatnamese (allowing millions to be murdered, imprisoned and tortured), after taking power in the vaccuum left by Nixon's corruption?

Do you think Teddy really sees Iraq as the same identical problem as Viet Nam?

And will importing a couple hundred thousand refugees protect this country in any way, or help Iraq become a legitimate country?

I think that this is a good way for the terrorists to start a lot of new cells in the US, and for that reason I'm against it. I have no problems with the average Iraqi living in the US. I hear that they're generally productive citizens. But we need the vetting process to keep out the terrorists.

Ditto to what Arbilad said.  No problem with any individual who legally immigrates here.  But, I think this is a two pronged attempt at undermining our safety... make it far harder to control illegal immigration by letting hundreds of thousands of "refugees" (how many Iraqi's are really wanting to come to the U.S?) come in without going through the established proper channels, and as mentioned, allow a lot of new terrorist cells to come in the front door.
Teddy needs to get his head out of the kettle of chowder!

Reminds me of NCIS last week and Fox's 24.

Even vetting may not help.  If we accept refuges, we are in essence allowing out the very people who should be fighting for change in their own country.
