Since it has been a while since anyone started a new thread in here, let's talk about the late Pres. Ford.
Are you old enough to have remembered is time in The White House? If you voted or could have voted in the following election, who would you have voted for? What do you remember about Pres. Ford? When did you hear that he had died? Did you do (or are you planning to do) anything special to pay him homage?
I happened to turn on the TV this morning while getting ready for work right as the hearse slowly drove past The White House.
With his death, we are now left with only three living former presidents. Can you believe that until Reagan died, we had five for a brief period?

It seems to me the only thing you've learned is that Caesar is a "salad dressing dude."
The election was two or three weeks after I returned home from my mission, and I don't remember if I voted that time. I did feel that he was the better of the two candidates.
I learned of his death while reading the news on the Internet.
I missed the Ford years. I remember Carter but have no recollection of Ford. Obviously I was too young to vote for either. My problem is that I have tended to judge every president against the standard of leadership set by Reagan. Carter was a complete dissaster as president in every way although I had a slight crush as a young lad on his daughter. And then there was Billy Beer!
I almost feel sorry for Ford. By pardoning Nixon he ended the mess that was literally tearing the nation apart. On the other hand, I think he made a mistake by not letting the system do its job. The cloud of his pardon hurt his chances for re-election and made it possible for Billy Beer to even exist. Those commercials for Billy Beer were horrible and turned me against the Ford legacy.
History will remember Ford for becoming president as the result of a scandal and resignation of Richard Nixon and that he pardoned Nixon and then lost the election. Any other good or bad will be forgotten.
