According to news reports on every major news outlet, the dictator is set to die within the next couple of days. It's a wierd feeling to know that. I'm not sure how I feel. How are you feeling about it?
I personally think he deserves the death penalty. I'm not sure about the process they used. I like the fact that it was quick. But I'm not sure that they gave him due process. I mean, it seems that they assumed that he was guilty from the start, and went on that assumption. I mean, I'm convinced he's guilty. And I think that the process should be quick. But, just to be sure, during the process they should bend over backwards to make sure he's not guilty. The benefit would have been that it would have been easier, perhaps, to limit the riots that are sure to ensue. If they had made every effort to appear fair, there would have been less reason for the Iraqis to riot.

The whole trial was a joke, IMHO. People were killed because of it, and it just allowed things to fester. It was definitely a show trial. They should have just popped the guy full of lead when they found him in that hole and showed the corpse later, just like his sons.
Unfortunately they let him speak before he was killed, and he tried to imply that the Shia were to blame for his death, and that he's something of a Sunni martyr. Sad.
