Maybe I should actually read the book someone gave me for Christmas once - about how to survive a nuclear attack.
You know, it's not actually impossible to survive a nuclear blast, if you're just in the fallout area. Alpha and Beta particles, which are the real killers, can be stopped by clothes, ponchos, or even a sheet of paper. The really lethal stuff is gone in a couple of weeks.
