For those of you who have never seen them, pray your skies are clear tonight and that you live more northernly than southernly in the US... Looks like we're in for some nifty Northern Lights tonight!
I remember a few years ago seeing the Northern Lights for the very first time. One word can describe it... WOW! It was in the parking lot at our chapel here in SE Michigan, and despite the light from the building and the parking lot and surrounding homes and overall light pollution from the urban area, it was one of the coolest and most beautiful thing I had ever seen!

Thanks for the tip. We actually did see a little bit of the northern lights. We drove out to the middle of nowhere and stood and watched them until our toes were too cold. Apparently if we'd been an hour earlier, we'd have caught a more spectacular sight.
We had really bad winds. Part of our neighborhood is out of power, and the power company's told them it could be "weeks" before they have it back on. Fortunately through some great and marvelous gift of the Lord, we have power and only lost it for a few seconds during the storm. The winds were pretty strong, though not as strong as a few years ago when our whole neighborhood was PLASTERED and houses were cut in half by falling trees.
This one got more press coverage because it was more directed at Seattle, and in Washington, Seattle is the center of the universe.

no, I live too south. I did, however, see a few of the meteors on Wednesday night. Only a few though...then we were too tired and decided to call it a night. The best part was that we had driven out to the desert (well, sort of...not really that far away from teh city lights) but when we got home the drunk people (I live right by 2 frat houses) were all talking and one was like "Whoa! I just saw a shooting star!" He didn't know what he was missing.
