So my dad just got back from meetings with the space agency of Russia. They're going to work on an experiment... something about simulating the flight to Mars, and the astronauts (cosmonauts for the ruskies...) have to stay live in a tincan for 600 days before getting to mars... could you imagine? What would you do? What would you want to take along?
I suggested World of Warcraft... :)

That would be some wireless internet connection. :)
Hmm, being in a spaceship for 400 days, that would drive me nuts.
I saw the title of the thread and thought maybe it was a discussion of a song from the mid '80's or something...
Anyone remember that song "Six months on a leaky boat" (I think that was the title) by that british new age group? Came out during the Falkland Islands war and was banned in England because it was such deemed to be a very strongly anti-war song that criticized the crown and parliament (or so I heard on VH1 once I think)...
As to 600 days in a tin can to Mars... I would not take a chimp. Research (and Disney) has shown that chimps will take your hibernation chamber instead of the one meant for them, forcing you to stay awake the whole trip in forced isolation. Of course, this could enhance one's talent in painting masterpieces with food paste.
Take some practical things... like air fresheners, TP, and some tools for lawncare and landscape maintenance.
