Rush Limbaugh just quoted a good chunk of Orson Scott Card's The Only Issue this Election Day essay. Of course, fear of shiz mentioned it on Nauvoo but it can't be discussed there and it has been mentioned on Ornery but the essay hasn't been rationally discussed there so I just thought I would mention it here (since OSC's own web sites aren't a good place for it). I do agree with a large portion of OSC's essay. It is too long to summarize here so I will just recommend reading it.
I enjoyed reading his words. I enjoy his political perspective. WHat was Rush's reaction to the article? I wish I could've heard it. Did he read the part about the extreme "Hannity" world view?

I'll probably get around to reading it sometime. I'm sure there are some nuggets of grass-roots conventional wisdom, as OSC usually includes that in his essays. And I'm sure there are some items I don't exactly agree with, as are usually included in his essays.
Right now, I'm just too tired of political things to want to put anything else in my mind... afraid I'll have a Homer experience where it bumps something out due to limited space...

This isn't the first time the esteemed Mr. Card has been critical of "his own party" and written in support of President Bush's policies. Maybe he should consider changing his political allegiance.

Nauvoo thread's been closed now... apparently someone brought up that Uncle Orson called him a racist or some such nonsense... I'm personally disappointed, because I don't recall his comments in this regard.
I'd love it if Rush and Orson could chat... just cuz... Better yet, Michael Medved and Orson... Medved actually reads tons of stuff...

Why should he? Does a man change his character like his clothing? I know a number of democrats that support the war (including a former democrat Lieberman). Card is right in his questioning of the liberals in the democratic party. Most of America is not liberal, but the democratic base is. What I find interesting is that the democrats that have won seats have won because they espoused conservative issues. Not because they are reflect the likes of Pelosi.
Card is right. And in this case, unfortunately, he is probably prescient too.

Mr. Card is for affirmative action, so some of his views are certainly at home in the Democratic Party. Most of us will never share 100% of all the views of their party.
I might be a rare exception. And even in my case, where I pretty much agree totally with the Republican Party (their words not their actions) the Republican Party does not always speak with a unified voice (even with their words only) so it really would be nearly impossible to agree 100% with one party.
