Tell us about your Avatar...

Okay, so as my first unofficial act as a moderator, I thought it would be fun to start a discussion where we spill our guts... er, tell everyone a little about ourselves.  Specifically, why you chose the avatar (if you have selected one) for your persona here on Bountiful.

I'll go first.

  1. I couldn't find an image for a Cat Herder, and was too lazy to try and find some old ad material to scan one of them wranglers off...
  2. I am pretty incredible if I do say so myself...
  3. I did have a barrel chest at one time, even though it has partially / mostly migrated to the waist...
  4. I am full of myself and have visions of grandeuer (assuming I can even spell it) much of the time...
  5. I have a beserker warrior son who is as fast as Dash...
  6. It seemed more appropriate than Homer or Bart Simpson or even Glenn Beck...

It pokes fun at an overdone political statement, and yet doesn't really offend anyone

It goes with my name, which means "shield wolf," a courageous protector of a home (based on minimal research).

I can think of another meaning for the name Randy. (but shield wolf is much cooler... :) )

Hmmm, lessee... My username is Spotted Horse 'cause I raise spotted horses... my avatar is a horse... I dunno! Cause it looked cool?

The butt has spots on it; I'm just being modest and not showing that! Although the butt IS covered by a blanket, but still...

First I had to go pick one.  I liked it because it's cheerful.

Ummm...I don't know. It looks nothing like me. It's cute, though, right? And it totally looks innocent. You wouldn't call my opinion dumb and uninformed with an avatar like that sitting next to the post, would you? 'Cause if you did, you'd probably hurt its feelings. Then I'd have to find a crying girl avatar.

I guess I should get an avatar.  I have a few lying around somewhere.  I just need to dust one off and it should do just fine.

Justin Ropers.  The most comfortable boots I've ever worn.

Roper was also the cross-country callsign of my last C-130 unit in the Air Force, but it's not possible to make a C-130 still look righteous at only 100 pixels,  especially if it's an AC in a left bank streaming out a bit of righteous butt-kicking.  But I digress.  Justin Ropers also serve quite nicely when a less-lethal butt-kicking is in order.

I've always wanted an avatar.  This is so cool!

I chose the basset hound because that's my favorite breed of dog, and because I used to have one.  Her name was Rosie.  I guess this one is named Tyro.

I picked the butterfly because I love butterflies; I especially love the symbolism of emerging, changed and beautiful, from a crysalis.

Really I guess I should have picked a catterpillar, or at least a crysalis, but the butterfly gives me something to look toward.

Since I introduced myself I had better introduce my Avatar now.  It is Master Chief from the video game Halo.

I generally do not play video games.  Hate most of them.  They have gotten way too complicated since the old days of the original nintendo with The Legend of Zelda, Castlevania, and Metroid.  But there is one game that I will play, the only game I own, and that causes me to go nutso.  It is Halo Combat Evolved.  I own and X Box and 4 controllers because of this game.  There are no other games.  Just Halo and Halo 2.

I play it with my brother and brother in law and even my wife.  Once at an Elder's quorum presidency meeting the president, 1st councillor, and I went at it in Halo before and after the meeting.  Coicidentally we are all named Jason but that's another story altogether.  The poor president got pasted as the first cousellor and I battled it out for bragging rights.  Usually I try and choose a funny avatar like the one I have of Homer Simpson aiming a rifle at one of those creepy Peekachoo Japanese anime card characters like I use on another forum but it was a little too big and I didn't want to take the time to mess with it.

haha...I was getting tired of the plumeria because it made me want to go to the ocean even more than I already do, so I was looking through my photos to see if I had a good one to put up, and I saw those and thought I'd put them up. For awhile my fiance and I would go for walks downtown on Sunday evenings, amidst the huge beautiful business buildings that were all silent because of the weekend. They were lovely! But one Sunday I didn't have pantyhose to keep my legs warm, so I just put on some tall socks with my green shoes, and he laughed so much and loved it, so I took a picture for him to have. Once I saw the photo in my gallery, I thought "this is it!" so here it is!  :woot:  I may change it again soon.  Who knows!

Is it really???? I honestly didn't notice that... Hubby just laughed at me, and said "of course it is"!

At 50 I decided to become a child again. I am a PollyAnna but I looked nothing like Hailey Mills as a child... I looked more like this stick figure kiddo... I seems like my future is headed that way again, anyway... I don't want to be maudlin so that is all I will say.

ETA: PF inspired me with his selection of avatar on the temp site Andrew created... I have a nephew that is a fabulous artist and worked on the Corpse Bride, and while I didn't care for the movie, I love this little character.  She is ME! (...with strawberry blonde hair no less! all she really needs is a purple hat to have my WHOLE real personality displayed!)  laughing.gif

Reading in Abraham 3 for FSS tonight, and came across this:

13 And he said unto me: This is Shinehah, which is the sun. And he said unto me: Kokob, which is star. And he said unto me: Olea, which is the moon. And he said unto me: Kokaubeam, which signifies stars, or all the great lights, which were in the firmament of heaven.

I can't believe it took me this long to figure out Cocobeem's name/avatar. brainless.gif

Unbelievable. no.gif

Kinda' reminds me of this man I knew that had these old-ish looking ceramic bowls and vases and stuff on a mantle in his office... They had symbols on them from the PoGP facsimiles.  But, you know, if you weren't familiar with those you'd never know what they meant, or that he was LDS.  Sort of like "code" for when we're out "among 'em", like humming Popcorn Popping and other things... biggrin.gif   I like codes, and I swear we've got more to work with than the Masons, the KKK or just about anyone else... w00t.gif

I chose my Avatar because Cat Herder liked it and I haven't found anything I like better yet. He found a picture of a rain poncho, but it looked more like a dementor. I posted awhile back on the chatbox that I also chose it because Ray pointed out that Elasti-girl kicked Mr. Incredible's butt!
I decided that was good enough for now. (Not that I can kick Cat Herder's butt).
We can be the dynamic duo of Bountiful! biggrin.gif

I have been looking for a new avatar for 2 months...  I want something really DIFFERENT, and still haven't found anything that fits better...  I chose Maxine cause as hubby says... she IS my alter ego... (the opposite of my Polly side...)  Still... I am not nearly as crotchety as she is (most of the time...) and I am DEFINITELY NOT that old!!!  rofl.gif

I almost started using SkeletonGirl again (from the Corpse Bride), but that upsets Coco (BTW Roper, I never got Coco's name and Avatar until now either...)

So here is a new me... for a few weeks anyway...  It looks nothing like me, which is ONE of the reasons I like it!  giggle.gif

And now for something completely different: a lovely picture my husband took in the garden of our old house after a rainstorm.

This current avator (a head Xray of Homer Simpson) was a common desktop background in the neurology ICU. We loved it because we were constantly looking at CTs and MRIs and Xrays and this brought a bit of humor into an otherwise tough place.
