Who's left?

I finally found my password so I could comment. It has been so long since anyone posted here and I'm feeling a bit nostalgic.  In 7 months I will graduate from college into a market that just 4 years ago there was a demand for my profession and now there is virtually none.  We have moved up to north Idaho where we own 1.4 acres and not much else. I feel a bit jaded to be honest.

How are all of you doing? Any new developments, missions or moves?

I'm getting remarried, working at a great job, having a good life. There' snot much traffic on this board anymore. We could try to get it going again.

I definitely feel left over.   Our house is paid for, our cars are paid for, but our kids (and now 5 grand kids) I fear will never be paid for.   I am a professional retiree, expediter of my wife's honey do list, a political consultant, and all around No More Mr. NIce Guy.

Fregramis, I understand your plight having to worry about getting a job that will enable you to support your family.   Been there, Done that.   Be sure to get the Lord involved in your job search.

Arbilad, you have my best wishes for your new marriage.   It's gotta be nice to have a job you enjoy.

I'm feeling pretty discourged about "the state of the nation" now and I continue to do what I can to remedy the situation.

Cheeres for now, Lundbæk

I had lost the link to this forum for a while when grand kids messed up my computer.   I found it in among some old emails I had not deleted.

Things seemed to be going pretty well, but of course it  couldn't last.   My wife and I were down to one car, a 2011 Malibu which we really liked very much, and it got totaled by a drunk lady at one oclock last Wednesday afternoon while I was stopped at a red light.   This is the second time in 3 years; 3 years ago a guy on a cell phone lost control and totaled the nice car we had had for only a month, and we got 2800 $ less than what we paid for it.   So far I have had no response from the cited driver's insurance agent or adjuster.   And we are susposed to "love thy neighbor as thyself".   Call me No More Mr. Nice Guy,   like if I ever was.

Sorry to hear that.  As an update, I have found a job with good hours. We hope to start building a home by the end of the month. Right now all 8 of us are crammed into a 70 foot single-wide trailer (that's going on 2+ years). I'd rather just go out and buy a home but it would take me 5 years to save up a 20% down payment on a home we would need. We own the land free and clear that we are building on so that helps. And we will get the floor plan that works best for our needs.

Also I got my HAM radio license,  finally! KG7DUV is my call sign if anyone cares to know. I am only an amateur so any advice I will gladly take. Right now I check in with my Stake Net every Sunday evening but that is about the limit of my hamming.

It is strange to go back and see what we were discussing 6-7 years ago and to look around us now and see how the landscape has changed. I hope everyone here is doing well and that our faith in the gospel is intact, as well as our faith in the ideals of our Constitutional Republic.  The need for increased faith in the Lord is so apparent in these dark times. The hymn "Abide with Me" is very fitting.

It's good to know things a looking up for you, Fregramis.   Especially your new job.   We got a better settlement from the car insurance than we expected, and have been able to get an even nicer car, or so it seems after one week driving it.

As I think back on what discussions I was involved in here in the past 4-7 years I fail to see " how the landscape has changed", .other than new faces in our state (AZ) and national governments.   What am I missing ?

We are still trying to survive retirement forced on us by jobs being sent overseas, age and even minor health issues.   Out house is paid for, we are down to one car, but its paid for.   But gadzooks!  Our kids will never be paid for.   And 5 grandchildren needing this and that.

I am still active in the political arena and freedom battle.   My personal agenda in that area includes making Latter-day Saints aware of our divinely mandated responsibilities to study, uphold and abide by the principles of the US Constitution as those who established it intended for it to be understood, making people aware of the conspiracy to make a shambles of the United States and destroy what is left of our constitutional republic and turn our nation into a highly centralized socialist state controlled by a world government.   And I've actually had some success in these endeavours.

I hope some others of the old gang will chime in soon.

Life goes on for me and my family. I remain very politically opinionated. I remain employed.
I am very happy that yesterday Colorado recalled two anti gun senators.

Please keep us posted on the recall.   Our AZ Senators McCain & Flake I wish we could organize a recall

I should have clarified that it was state senators that were recalled. One of them was the Colorado State Senate President, who ramrodded through anti-gun legislation in Colorado, including changing the senate rules and excluding many pro gun testimonies.

I hope all you who posted on this thread are still alive and well.   I recently purchased a book "EZRA TAFT BENSON, Statesman, Patriot, Prophet of God", by Francis M. Gibbons.   On Pages 244-248 I found the following, which I have excerpted for brevity.   I never knew of this, and find it interesting and enlightening.

Ralph Hughes
Mesa, Arizona
gretheandralph@hotmail.com

"Shortly after Elder Benson's return from Europe in October 1965, he was told about the formation of a public-spirited group called the 1976 Committee.....Elder Benson was contacted by the committee and asked if he would be a candidate for the presidency in 1968.   Senator Strom Thurmond was suggested as his running mate....he knew there was little chance of success if he were to become a presidential candidate....A campaign for the presidency would provide a national pulpit from which he could expound his ideas of government and to warn about the dangers of communism.   If he could persuade large numbers of people to accept his views, defeat at the polls could still be a polemic victory....he counselled with President McKay about it .   The Prophet told Ezra to allow the committee to proceed with its plans to put his name forward, but he also cautioned him not to help or hinder those plans.   the 1976 Committee was busy trying to drum up support for the candidacy of Elder Benson and Senator Thurmond.   During the last half of 1966, there appeared to be what was called a "groundswell" of support.   Later, however, this support dwindled as the candidates of the two major parties began to dominate the headlines..

"In February 1968, Governor George Wallace of Alabama, a candidate for President, urged Elder Benson to join him as a vice presidential candidate on an independent, third-party ticket.   Elder Benson and Reed traveled to Montgomery, Alabama, to discuss the matter with Governor Wallace.   However, when President McKay was briefed about the discussion, the Prophet suggested that Elder Benson not become involved.   Contacts with the governor were then terminated, although as late as September, 1968 Mr Wallace was still making overtures."

I came back here today to copy an old post I'd written years ago and browsed around for a while.  I'm still active in the freedom battle.     I hope you are all well and happy on the road to eternal life.

https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/longmont-co/enoch-ornstead-7959060

Enoch Ornstead passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Friday, August 10, 2018. He was 44 years old, born in California and moved to Colorado in 1998. He earned his living in software quality control, becoming a manager with automated testing. He got his QA start in California, testing computer games.

He leaves behind his wife Jolene Medina Ornstead, and son Elijah Ornstead, and a step-son Nikita Kalenskiy from his first marriage as well as three brothers Adam, Jared and Scott and his mother, Diana Ornstead. He was preceded in death by his brother David and his father Bruce. He was an elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Highland Lake Ward.

Enoch was unconquerable. He had many trials at various times and yet nothing at all could shake him from his estimation of the best course to take. He had a strong love and knowledge of the gospel. He found truth in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and nothing at all could shake him from that.

Enoch served a mission when he was 19 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for two years. Part of his mission was in the Kiev, Ukraine and part of his mission was spent in the Donetsk, Ukraine mission. He loved his mission and all the people he met while on his mission. Enoch made many friends in the Ukraine and kept in touch with them over the years. He became fluent in speaking Russian and continued to speak it as often as he could.

Before Enochs health started failing, those of us who knew him best knew a happy, cheerful person with a silly sense of humor. He seemed to meet and make friends with everybody. He loved going to his familys home each week for game night, dinner and conversations. He had a love for Disneyland. He loved using apple products, going to the opera, listening to classical music, and trying out new homesteading ideas. Enoch was very patriotic and had a love of the United States Constitution, country and the 2nd Amendment.

Enoch will be missed by all who knew him, but we can all have peace and comfort knowing that his spirit is freed from the complications he had with his health and he is now back at his best.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 16 at 11am. There will be a viewing at 10am. Location of the services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1721 Red Cloud Road in Longmont, CO. Burial services will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers to please consider the family Go Fund Me page to help with future expenses or to donate to the Church humanitarian fund to help out others around the world who are in need.

Hi Everyone,

Perhaps I should have mentioned the following email that I received form Enoch's brother Adam:

This is Adam Ornstead, son of Diana Ornstead.  (Diana Ornstead was known as Historian on this forum)

I'm sending this message to everyone in her email contacts list to inform everyone who knew her that she passed away yesterday morning, Saturday May 25th 2019.

She's had increasing difficulties with her heart for years, and it finally gave out.

The funeral will be in Longmont Colorado this coming Saturday. That's as much as we know right now.

Howe Mortuary in Longmont will know more on Tuesday. Contact them if interested.

After learning of the very recent passing of Historian (Diana Ornstead) and also of the passing of Arbilad (Enoch Ornstead) nearly a year ago, I started poking around on the Bountiful forum. I noted that "guests" were visiting the forum in varying numbers, usually 1-4 at a time. I'm reviewing my posts and am thinking of pasting a few of them over on the LDSFreedom Forum (which in becoming decreasingly interesting to me) to try to improve it a bit by promoting ideals and principles of our Constitutional Republic. I hope you are well, even though the rest of the world is messed up.

Cheers,
Lundbaek (Ralph Hughes, Mesa, AZ)

Yea, LDSFF is no longer a forum about political freedom from the LDS perspective.  It is a cesspool of apostasy.  There are still a few faithful LDS, but the site is dead to most truths.

I would like to invite LDS people who are concerned about freedom from the LDS perspective to join the LDSFF, but frankly, I'd be embarrassed to expose them to many of the topics that appear on that forum now. Even Enoch (Arbi) joined LDSFF, but soon dropped out. I have identified several LDSFF members, probably a tad more than a dozen, who repeatedly demonstrate interest and concern in preserving and restoring our freedoms. Also, I find opportunities to post messages which I hope and like to think are somehow inspiring others to awake to the real causes of our losses in the freedom battle and to the special importance of the U.S. Constitution to Latter-day Saints. My recent initiation of THE NEW AMERICAN topic is part of that effort. And the forum also reveals just what we freedom fighters are up against in our battle to restore wholesome principles to our government.

Most American LDSs are not even aware of the special importance of the U.S. Constitution to Latter-day Saints, or of the danger posed by the secret combinations that Nephi, Moroni, President Benson, Elder Packer, and others warned us about. It seems to me that recent Church presidents have intentionally avoided these topics, and I attribute that to the poor response of American LDSs to those warnings and admonitions in years past, and the concern that addressing those things now would cause contention among Church members. I have noted and experiences such myself.
