We had our Stake Conference a week ago. The area authority who spoke said that the Brethren feel there is a spirit brooding over the Church, and that we are preparing to turn the corner on missionary work. The crashed economy(crashing, depending how you assess it) has created a fertile environment; the trivial and vain things giving way to the essential and vital things. This article seems to show that such is the case. Of course it's not everybody, but it seems to be significant.
