Challenge to local gun laws

From worldaffairsbrief.com

The Supreme Court set up a historic decision on gun control Wednesday, saying it will rule on whether restrictive state and local laws violate the Second Amendment right to gun ownership that it recognized last year. The 5 to 4 opinion in District of Columbia v. Heller did not address the question of whether the Second Amendment extends beyond the federal government and federal enclaves such as Washington. Most court observers say they think that the five justices who recognized the individual right will also find that the Second Amendment applies to state and local governments, a move that could spark challenges of state and local laws governing gun registration, how and when the weapons can be carried, and storage requirements -Washington Post

This should be an interesting and imiportant case.  I have long felt thatl state and municipal laws infringe on the right to keep and bear arms.  I cannot see anything in the 2nd Amendment that permits states and municipalities to require permits of any kind or restrict posession of guns to any class of person.

I hope that they rule in favor of the second amendment and strike down restrictive local laws.

I believe this is a situation in which the 2nd Amendment overrules any state or municipal laws that restrict or infringe on the right to possess and carry a gun.

But I do think states and municipalities are at liberty to restrict when and where guns may be shot.

Also, I think the owner of property has the right to forbid the carrying of a gun onto or into his/her property.

It seems to me a proper interpretation of the 2nd Amendment would permit former convicted felons etc., non-citizens, and kids to own and carry guns.

Any thoughts on these issues from a strictly legal perspective?   I'm not asking what anybody thinks otta be.  I'm asking what you think the 2nd Amendment says.
