The "Kiss heard round the world"

I saw a headline on Yahoo about how gays feel that they are at war with the church. They made statements such as "the kiss heard round the world" and made several references to their belief that the church will regret their stance on Prop 8 and the whole kissing incident.
I say, bring it on. If you think that you can win against God, then you're in trouble. Sure, righteous will suffer too, but we're already suffering with all this wickedness in the world.

There is a scripture in 2 Nephi 28 that says:

3 And all the nations that fight against Zion, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision; yea, it shall be unto them, even as unto a hungry man which dreameth, and behold he eateth but he awaketh and his soul is empty; or like unto a thirsty man which dreameth, and behold he drinketh but he awaketh and behold he is faint, and his soul hath appetite; yea, even so shall the multitude of all the nations be that fight against Mount Zion.

This is a prophecy of our times and those who wish to destroy the church.  Their hopes and desires will be dashed.

I think Revelation 13: 7-10 tells the same senario, that, in my words, an evil power will attack or persecute in some way members of the Church, and then be wiped out in some manner.  Any thoughts on how the persecution or attack will take place?
