Illinois Governor wants to sell Senator position

The Illinois governor wants to get a lot of money for appointing Obama's replacement. Nah, there's no corruption in the US government. Especially not Chicago, Illinois.

Chicago is the worst. A second governer in a row is in trouble now. Doesn't inspire much confidence in the president elect.

Especially given that the president elect is not a natural born citizen.
The circus is getting ugly.
I wonder, though, why the Illinois governor is getting thrown under the bus. After all Ted Kennedy killed a lady with his car and nothing happened to him. What's a little influence peddling amongst friends?
BTW, I'm curious if someone here knows: is it actually against the law to accept money for appointing someone a senator?

Perhaps this document answers your question about legality. Illinois was set to sell bonds today, so they issued this statement.
