Oil price hits three month low

Why is no one talking about this good news?  Or is only doom and gloom allowed around here?

Sadly, gas prices haven't dropped here very much. I keep hearing on the news about how gas prices are dropping around the nation, but they are hovering here. I find this to be rather annoying. Still, it's good that the price of oil is going down agian.

It's amazing how fast a business will pass on a price increase to their customers, but drag their feet passing on a price decrease.

That's for sure. I don't see prices of goods dropping, either.

The gas at the station near my house has dropped 20 cents a gallon, and that's certainly welcome. I hope that it goes down even more. I'm not sure it will, though.
Maybe someday they'll make a thermal depolymerization kit for home and you can produce your own gas at home.

I didn't know the oil was down that much. Apparently not affecting me yet.

But I guess theoretically that's "good news."

The prices at the store haven't dropped.  The gas prices here have dropped from around $4.10 to $3.75 (it still fluctuates from $3.88 to $3.69).  I am not optimistic that they will drop more.

The gas prices here have dropped maybe a nickel. That is why I'm making the annoyed face. Other parts of the country are obviously able to drop prices more. I hear about it on the news. furious

Call me cynical, but I think that the oil companies raised the prices just long enough for public outrage to reach a level that politicians were almost willing to do something about it. Then, they drop the prices a little (they are still outrageously high), and the public anger goes away, and thus the threat from politicians. They've done it for years. The new "low" is still higher than what the "high" ever should have been. Maybe they were able to get a higher increase this year because it is an election year, and they knew politicians wouldn't do anything unless absolutely forced to do so. Despite this, they will try to get a national average above $5.00/gallon next summer, at least for a week. Then they will drop it down to $4.25/gallong, and we will all be ever so grateful.

And in the interest of fair reporting, I am happy to announce that when I went to fill up today, gas was down another 15 cents for 20 cents total less than the highest price I paid during the hike. 'Bout time. nod.gif

I hope that it will continue to go down.

I hope it continues to go down also.
I still see 4 dollar gas but a few places are now under 4 dollars.

I got it for well under $4 today. Sad that I should be happy about that. And sad that I'm happy to pay 44 cents/lb for bananas instead of 58 cents. . . when this time last year they were 38.

There is hope for the future, though. There are technologies that, if allowed to mature and be implemented, could cure our oil problems. You can make oil from turkey carcasses, for instance. The US Gov recently reached a deal with a guy who uses cow bacteria to break down biomatter into oil; he'll be putting a plant in at a US Military base and producing oil that way.
I think it's amusing that, with current technology, oil is actually a renewable resource.

Regular here is $3.53.
Supreme is $3.77

No doom and gloom, just reality. Gas should be $5 a gallon by Christmas.

Happy Holidays.

You could always get a flex fuel vehicle and make a still at home. The still would help you make E-85 for your car, and you'd be able to make your own fuel! Can you imagine the conversations that follow? "Sorry, I can't help with the mutual activity tonight, I have to tend to my still and make sure that my alcohol production is coming along fine."

With Gustav headed for many oil rigs along the coast, and with Saudi Arabia running out of oil, (you read correctly their production is going down 'cause they are running out), gas should soon be well over $5.00.

We need to start drilling now. But neither the oil companies nor the democrats really want us to.

So... if this is the lowest gas by a long shot we'll see, say, the rest of our LIVES...

What would you do? I mean, if we knew that gas would be over $10 in another year, what are we going to be regretting?

I'll be regretting not taking that road trip to Williamsburg, that's what I'd be regretting. nod.gif
