I thought it was funny that this lady could happily live in the guy's closet AND be undetected for not a few weeks, but a YEAR.

I'm sure she came out during the day. The article which haven't clicked on says she used the shower even and was very neat. The only reason she was caught was that the guy noticed food disappearing.
