So the guy goes into the Dr. and says, "I've got shingles." The doc takes him in and examines him and does some stuff and gives him some meds and says, "Okay! Now take it easy for a couple days." The man stands up and says, "So... where do you want your shingles?"
So, yeah. I've got shingles. I'm in my 30s. Kinda' weird. My doc said in the last 2 or 3 decades much younger people have been getting it. I didn't even know what it was, except MrCoco's mom had it and lost vision in one eye not too long before she died of cancer.
It seems that I've had more allergies than usual this spring and MrCoco is getting those allergy shots once a week.. that train your immune system or something? He's allergic to all trees and grass... but not horses. Neener!
A neighbor of ours was recently diagnosed with MS - she's only about 25. Then there's my own daughter with Lupus at age 9!
It just seems like there's more and more immune system stuff happening lately... has anyone felt that way?

I think it's a diet thing. Processed foods have an amazing amount of things in them that wreak havoc on your body. That's why we're trying to cut processed foods from our diet as much as we can.

Also, many people have said that sugar is white death. I can't bring myself to give it up entirely, but you might consider things like honey (NOT splenda or any other synthetic sugar. They're worse for you than sugar is)

People. I'm not dying or anything. It's just a rash like 2 or 3" on one shoulder and I'm on these pills... It's from the latent chickenpox virus that everyone has who's had chickenpox. Something causes your immune system to go down and the virus activates again. I take pills for a week and it's over.
I also hear there's a vaccine for shingles to prevent future flares/outbreaks? I'll be getting that!
I've also noticed on the local elementary school's chart the attendance has really been bad this spring and in the Jr. High I don't think there was one single day where everyone was present in school. I've also noticed that with Church attendance lately... in Primary.

I agree that processed foods and sugar definitely DO NOT help out one's immune system.
You know, I can't get too wound up with nutrition (I have in the past) because I always come back to the fact that so many people all over the world live off - well, just *crap* y'know? - and yet they seem to squeak by long enough to live out a mortal/probationary existence...
But yes, while I'm blessed with the opportunities of purchasing or growing healthy food and have the choice of processed or non-processed food, I feel it's my obligation to eat as well as I can. I have been eating more sweets lately... combine that with some extra stress issues going on... could be. In fact, I've noticed that sugar really seems to be affecting me moreso than it did just a few years ago...
I think environmental concerns are always a possibility, too. Pesticides, pollution, etc... putting plastic containers in the microwave... hey, never know.

Every single person I've talked to IRL knows someone that's had it. Sheesh! I wasn't even sure what it was... anyway, I think I have a mild case, after hearing the ...um, unfortunate locations of some others' rashes. yikes.
I haven't even been to see my horses since this thing started, cuz the meds have made me kinda' limby. (Just made that word up.) So I didn't drive much. But I think I've got a handle on that now.
