Rev. Wright a "Moral Compass" for Obama

Barack Obama is now decrying certain statements of his pastor, such as those accusing the US of sponsoring state terrorism. But earlier he said that Rev. Wright serves as his "moral compass". Basically he's changing stories as is politically expedient.

I really hope he continues to decry this sort of preacher. I think it's great he's dropped him from his advisory committee. Now if only he'd have done it BEFORE the bloggers started pointing out the reverends obviously hate-america bias.

I heard audio recordings of portions of his sermons. They disgusted me, and I generally try to keep an open mind.

Obama is decrying them now because of political expedience, which is why he cannot get a pass on this. He needs to be hounded on this till the big media corporations cannot keep a blind eye. There is a reason he is the most liberal senator in Washington.

One phrase I've never heard come from the lips of Obama...

"God bless America"

I've never seen him with his hand over his heart during the National Anthem either.

Did anyone catch Obama's interview on Hannity and Colmes?  I missed some of it, but Obama said that while he was a member of the church (20+ years), he did not sit in the congregation when his pastor made comments such as these.  He said the pastor spoke about Christ, living Christ-like lives, helping others, etc.

I'd like to see a transcript of that.  Because I thought he carefully worded his statement (and I could be very biased...I'm not trusting of politicians much).  He said that he did not sit in this congregation...that could be interpreted to mean either that Obama did not sit in attendance when his pastor spewed anti-America stuff OR it could mean he was not in that particular audience that has been playing in the media.

So, let's assume the best.  Obama never heard his pastor say that.  Does that mean for 20+ years, this pastor never once said ANYTHING against America?  Did he not form his opinions until AFTER Obama left the congregation?  rolleyes

According to what I have read, Obama and Rev. Wright were friends. So it is just hard for me to believe that never in one sermon or personal conversation with his pastor did he ever hear anti-american sentiments.

What is even more dispicable are the people I saw being interviewed who defended his comments and thought it was racist to even question them.

Maybe Obama is an Easter and Christmas sort of Christian. He didn't hear those speeches cuz he just wasn't in church much.

The irony is that he's tried to suggest taht this reverend is his "mentor" and his "friend". It is great that people think he has a pastor, and that he's a really spiritual man... and now he's claiming he had NO IDEA that he was so radical... so either he knew and said nothing, even agreed with the crap he teaches, or he is not a religious man and is pretending to be one... either way it looks like the man's a big fraud...

...filled with hope...

Apparently there is a witness who saw Obama at one of the Hate sermons last summer.

I still don't imagine that this will hurt him much. Someone could find a video of him strangling puppies and it wouldn't hurt him much.

That's because strangling puppies brings the kind of change we need to washington... it brings hope!

Oh, well, then that's ok.  After all, leaving now erases all of 20+ years of preaching, mentoring, indoctrination, etc.  Yep, hope has been restored.  [/sarcasm]
