Well, the trend seems to be not covering up the more "embarrassing" parts of our past... this certainly won't leave much room for sweeping things under rug.

Well at least people are looking at the faith now in academia. I think it can be a good thing by at least getting more info out there. Serious academics I think will give us a fair shake and LDS students will take on the bad ones if they are not being fair. I know there are things in church history that we would all like to forget. Unfortunately, this is a church with people not perfect angels. People sometimes make mistakes. The gospel is perfect but the members aren't.
