Yes. This is one of those post where I really don't expect to find what I'm looking for but I'm desperate enough I'll go any route in hopes of some strange coincidence where I say "You know that thing?" and someone else says "Yeah! I know that!"
I'm looking for some music. It's some kind of jazz orchestra. I could swear the artist had "yellow" in his name. It's not your average jazz or big band but those are the only genre's I can fit it into.
It has a mod-vintage sound. Some songs are big, good for dancing. We used it for the monkey and the twist. One fast/dance song had a "pbow-pbow....pbow-pbow" sound/beat at the end. I keep hearing another song from the same album or group on a commercial but for the life of me, I can't zero in on it in any of my searches.
This is for a project I'm doing and it's really starting to bug me.

There was this song about living under the sea in a yellow submarine...
It had some nifty sound effects, could a "pbow-pbow" have been hidden in there some where? Maybe if you play it backwards and cross the street without shoes?

The one you played was the Dave Brubeck Quartet playing "Take Five". Did you want music like that, or is that similar to the sound you wanted? I know my brother who likes Brubeck also likes Thelonius Monk and the Brad Mehldau Trio. Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass is great too. You might know the song "Taste of Honey"
It's hard to know the tune you want just by the pbows.

Everywhere else I searched for 'yellow' and got 'yellow'. Allmusic gave me "Yello" and in turn the album Zebra which has the song "How How" (imagine that) on it!!!
The arrangement I heard didn't have all the vocals. I'm wondering if the out-of-print 'How How' remix albums have the version I want or if it was just fiddled with when I heard it.
Either way, Yippi!!
And thank you all for your help.

You've probably heard of the group Simply Red (of "Holding Back The Years" fame)... but have you heard of the group that was started by the same recording label -- Primary Colors -- that didn't do as well? Cowardly Yellow was the name. Seems they never got off the ground. Something about stage fright and an aversion to recording studios...

As in the "Oh Yeah!" electronic dance music Swiss duo of Ferris Bueller's Day Off closing scene fame with Mr. Rooney defeated getting on the school bus music?
Um... yeah, that was right there on the tip of my tongue... how could I have missed getting that?
The "pbow-pbow" should have given it away... kind of like the "chaka-kha chaka-kha" and "bmeow-bmeow" from "Oh Yeah!" is a dead give away.

Yeah. As soon as I heard the "Oh yeah" I knew I had found it. Same sound. And kind of a Doh! moment.
Same with Dave Brubeck - hello? totally famous!
In my defense, the Zebra Album wasn't a favorite and is out of print so that particular song isn't well known.

I'm glad to have helped you, Ros. One thing I like doing is hunting stuff up on the web. Allmusic.com has always been a really good place to start a music/band/song/album search.
