Campaigning gimmick

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,319410,00.html

"A television reporter turned political candidate said he plans to remain on a small scaffold near the top of a tower to focus attention on his long-shot bid to unseat a U.S. senator."

Yeah, I think it's dumb, but it made national news, so it's working to some extent. I hope the behavior isn't rewarded with votes, though. I do not want to live in a future where we vote in the fear factor champ.

Does anyone besides me remember that really young dude from last election who plans to run for prez in 2012 or 2016?  He was campaigning "just to get his name out there."  Haven't heard a thing about him since then.
