Oh, I'm nuts too, Poncho, just you wait and see. biggrin

Hey, everybody! I've been lurking on this site since April, trying to convince myself I don't need to join another forum, but y'all are too danged interesting. For shame!

And like I mentioned in the Depression thread, I've been waiting for approval for a LOOOOONG time, and was beginning to think my registration had gotten lost - either that or arbilad was really really busy.

So it was definitely a blonde moment to attempt re-registering this morning and get a "this name is already being used." D'OH! And now ray tells me I've been registered for a month. (hmmm, do we have an embarassed graemlin here, let's see....ooh, how about clueless.gif)

I'm feeling embarrassed too. Either I didn't send you an email or it got lost. I wonder if that's happened before with other users who signed up but never logged in?
I was actually beginning to think that dianoia had had second thoughts about participating. It just goes to show that you shouldn't assume too much.

No worries. That water's so far gone, I don't even need a bridge anymore.

Now I'm just trying to figure out how to attach the cool avatar that PollyAnna found for me.

I'm always watching, Wazowski. Always watching. Always.... watching...

I REALLY hope nobody ever mixes me up with my online persona, though.

'bamabelle, see if you can get dianoia to lend you some of her hair cream. That stuff looks like it would keep hair in place through a tornado.

And welcome dianoia. biggrin.gif

Well you know, I was a teenager in the late 80's.

It's all about nuclear-strength hairspray and crazy glue hairgel, baby.

(And I'm feelin' the love, all y'all. Thanks for the welcome.)

Eww. I just started remembering the "big hair" trend of the 80s.

Hola Dianoia.

Please contribute regularly to our political discussions. It will be interesting to get a Canadian's viewpoint of how messed up American politics can get. Especially when that Canadian's earliest thinking was influenced by Mad magazine.  Maybe we should start a Spy vs. Spy thread where we devise ever new and painful ways to defeat each other.

I'm all about a Spy vs. Spy thread. You're on!

However, I don't think it's a great idea for me to wander too much into the political threads.

1) I'm not that well-versed in American politics
2) I love my country, and bristle a bit at "Canada is socialist, and therefore eviiiiiil." I'm all for universal healthcare.

I have to admit, when I joined my first forum and read in the charter that Saints tend to argue about politics using scripture, I actually thought, "Oh, come on. Nobody really does that, do they?"

It's been an eye-opening experience these last two years hanging out virtually with American Saints.

I had a conversation this summer with my parents, who had just returned from their mission in China. There was another couple in Beijing with them, some Americans from Utah who they became fast friends with. Dad said, "You couldn't have met two nicer people - sweet, caring, just stellar. But holy cow! it was like their personalities changed when politics came up. I've never seen anything like it. Americans are REALLY passionate about their politics."

dianoia: That'd be a fascinating topic to discuss up in the general politics forum. I do think you're onto something about Americans in general when it comes to politics. :) It'd be fun to banty about reasons for this...
