Cartoons and comics

I collect cartoons on DVD and comic strips both print and digital.

Because my sense of humor is under the radar and generally irreverent, I have a collection of comics from various sources on a wide variety of topics which include, but aren't limited to, comic strips that poke fun at human foibles and poke holes in the hot air of personal ego. (my own included!)

I can't think of Daffy Duck cartoons without hearing him say 'Yoiks and away' and hearing him swing down on a vine and thud into a tree trunk instead of making a heroic appearance like Robin Hood (aka Errol Flynn).

teevee.gif   Juvenile, I know. But it is still funny to me no matter how many times I see it.

So what makes you grin, chortle, snort and guffaw?

That is pretty good. It made me smile. After a morning like I've had...that's pretty good.

Ain't that the truth. That and The Far Side. cry.gif Modern comics are just trash. I used to be an avid comic reader. It would take me a half hour each day just to read the comics. There isn't anything good left anymore. Foxtrot was the last holdout, and now that is only on Sundays.

Of course, better to quit while you're ahead than to run the comic into the ground for financial gain. Garfield is the primary example of this. I used to be such a huge Garfield fan. I used to buy every collection when it came out. I had that Garfield suction cup toy. But the comic should have ended over 10 years ago when Jim Davis still had some original ideas.

I love Dilbert. It so often captures life in the modern office... I used to write Scott Adams when I worked at HP. Also a big fan of Calvin and Hobbes...

In terms of comic books, I used to collect, Fantastic Four, Xmen, Hulk, Alpha Flight, Avengers, and Spiderman comics...

And as a kid I used to make my own comics all the time... in fact as art docent, my most popular unit is the comic book unit I do... which has nothing to do with the artist, but the kids love it. :)

(P.S. why is this thread in General Discussions)

well, I'd have to say because its a discussion

and because its general in nature

meaning non specific.

i can see how it might appear that it should be in the humor file, but since we weren't trading jokes or comics, it appeared to simply be a general question.

apologies for misfiling a general discussion in the general thread for a general answer from general people using general electric under general circumstances for general needs.

I need to go lie down now. . .

non specificgot it... thanks

I'd better go back to only reading the four topics I had re-defined as safe for me for the time being... (humor and the three topics under the "Provident Living" section...) BTW, it was just a question, not a a comment about misfiling...

if we only get to participate in 'safe' topics, where's the fun in that?!?

since I am all new to this forum, perhaps I should pay attention to where stuff goes and be more careful. . .

yeah, right.

like that is EVER going to happen! rofl.gif
